I have finally after 3 years of searching, gathering and organizing put together the COMPLETE 4 season PL2 style GLIDE terrain. They have the same appearance as the PL2 style Direct Draw terrain as hosted at the HASP site http://www.hellsangels.firstflare.com/ under the SCENERY link, only these are for Glide mode. These are the editable, individual tiles! They work along with stock or OTE/PL combo (or any other NON-PL)3DPatch VOL files. You put them in 3DPatch to accompany the (non PL1 or PLasV1a) VOL files already in there until such time as they are made into a complete PL2 VOL set themselves. They are hosted for D/L here http://ab1.home.att.net/Index.htmand: http://www.tanyrhiew.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/pltrn.7zand: http://files.filefront.com/PL2zip/;7202374;/fileinfo.htmlThey could come as one zip or three. You can combine all the files and install them directly into 3DPatch alongside it's VOL files or use as per CM11 procedure. If you want your crew to put out firepots for you after dark get this: http://files.filefront.com/PL2_dromeliteszip/;7302100;/fileinfo.htmlSave the original 6 "xaero2xx.bmp"'s somewhere (unless you use CM11) and install as above procedure. SCREENSHOTS (click to enlarge):

Morning SkiddmarkBeen over to the site and have D/L'd the Terrains. I think, I was the first visitor according to the the guest counter. I had found in my RD3d resource holder the PL Spring/Summer when it was first released as a Beta file and have had it installed into my HASP2 Campaign game. The implied 3d quality effect at low and high altitude is quite good. Now, thanks to you're posting, I have the All Seasons set to enjoy.... Cheers mate

Hi Skidd,Just to let you know that I've tested those D4_Terrains and they are terrific. Being able to fly over the trenches in various season made from matching terrains adds more immersion to the game play. I'm very curious to know just how effective the aerodrome landing lights will look on those late evening missions. Thank you for making these terrain available.... A couple of questions: 1) Are there various seasonal trees available from each seasonal terrain? 2) Are there various skyscapes ie: clouds, available for D/Ls? 3) I seem to remember that sometime ago there were Dawn and Sunset skyscape files. Are they available too? Cheers mate

If you use these terrain (PL2) tiles alongside the OTE/PL combo you will have the best seasonal trees and skies available. The landing light tiles are superlative, I can hardly believe how good they are myself, and I made them. I ran about 12 edits before it looked just right. To me it adds immersion to a high degree. I can E them to you if no one hosts them. I once had the "Sunset Construction" Program (glide only) on a now defunct computer, whereas you could make the skies any color gradient you wanted throughout the day and for seasons too. I don't remember where to get it now but I haven't done a SEARCH on it yet.

The 'dromelites" are available here thanks to "Swordfish": http://files.filefront.com/PL2_dromeliteszip/;7302100;/fileinfo.htmlSave the 6 original PL2 "xaero2xx.bmp"'s (unless you use CM11) and install these, "overwrite".

I seem to remember that sometime ago there were Dawn and Sunset skyscape files. Are they available too? Skylark, I still have those, (Tom Winters' new_dawns.zip and new_sunsets.zip), if you want them. I also have the original PLsky. Rabu made his own sky for his On-The-Edge terrain, complaining that PLsky didn't work well with OTE. I don't know which sky is included with HA's OTE/PL terrain, probably Rabu's. Do you know, Skid?

I have no idea which sky is contained in the OTE/PL combo. No one knows for sure but OvS. I'd like to have the "BaronAuto402.zip" for examination if you're inclined to send it. skidmark @ rtol.net I have no e-mail MB limit. I don't know if the 2 zips you mention are editors or just pre-prepared skies.

new_dawns and new_sunsets are just seasonal files to be swapped in and out, the sort of thing CM was made for. Remember swapping terrains by season? Sent you everything.

I like to switch terrains when the Squadron moves, really gives a sense of having gone somewhere different. The "Bsp2trn" has excellent Spring/Summer if a little dark, somewhat garish Fall and acceptable winter (similar or same to OTE)all with probably the best rivers I've seen.
I haven't gotten around to checking out the other patches yet. Thanks for the files. Any possibility of getting them hosted for D/L?

Any possibility of getting them hosted for D/L? I don't know, Flybert, maybe? I've been an On-The-Edge user for a long time. I must be one of a few who actually purchased the OTE CD from Rabu. I love his rivers, and I prefer his more rustic aerodromes to the well-found airfields of PL/FCJ. His tile-blending is very good as well, though his no-man's-land can't hold a candle to PL/FCJ. OvS's OTE/PL blend is very fine, with the best of OTE and PL, and some BvH spice added, in the best OvS fashion. It does OvS great credit that he was able to persuade these three personalities to let him combine their work and give it away for free.

OvS pulled off a major coup in getting those permissions! I still have my OTE CD too. I made some mistakes. I've been collecting files willy nilly and mismatched the names in my head. The "BaronAuto402" contains the Sunset Construction Kit (thanks, Brett aka "Birdbrain"!)with "TWABaron" (nocd loader, no 6-click). I haven't had time to run any of it yet so I don't know if the "new_....." files are support or stand-alone. The terrain is actually Beery Superpatch terrain (thanks, Ticks!)in two files (6.53MB and 5.13MB zipped, 20.2MB collectively unzipped). It also includes fire/smoke (Garp's?),clouds, Moon phases(keep in mind if you use NoSun/NoMoon unless they are in Simpatch) and some other stuff. Swordfish, if you don't have this terrain in your collection I will E-mail them (SCK too if you want since it is not available anywhere for D/L)to you for hosting since E-mailing on dialup to interested parties takes about 2 hours per session for the terrain.

Rabu included on his CD a fine 2-D terrain, which I used in that awkward period when most of us had retired our Voodoo cards, and before the Glide wrappers appeared.
There was also a 2-D terrain by Brigstock for use with Direct Draw, who also made a 3-D to 2-D terrain converter. Skid, your tiles have a "Brigstock-ish" appearance.
Finally, 1918 Airwar came with its own rather good terrain, but only for Spring-Summer and Autumn.

Sure, I'll be happy to host the Beery SP terrain + SCK. All I need to know is what files should be bundled together in each package (if they are not already packaged), their origin (for credits), and the intended use.

The 2D OTE and 2D PL2 are both available at http://www.hellsangels.firstflare.com/ under the SCENERY tab. The PL2 DD is, of course exactly the same tiles as "new/old" PL2 GLIDE. Brigstock made the palette conversion tool. Dark4ces did the winter conversion and DeltaK did the Spring and both, I think, did the Autumn conversion. I got together the 2D PL2 tiles except for one tile which I made for it, it needed some other file naming changes and OvS put it up for D/L. The PL2 3D was in pieces here and there but I finally managed to get the complete set, did some editing on seams, had to remove the trees that came with it due to some display problems and it's up for D/L now, thanks to Swordfish et al. Lucas' and Neo's 2D terrain effort is still a WIP. The Autumn is completed so far. There's no GLIDE version planned. Yet.

Good to know they are available. I don't suppose we shall ever get terrains for Munro's two Russian campaigns or the Italian campaign. The DD desert terrain for the Mid-East Patch was pretty good-looking, if you didn't mind those great bridges spanning the dry desert wadis.

Those patches can still be downloaded from Munro's page at SWWISA. I suppose you could install the patch in temporary folder and then extract the terrain files if you like. Haven't tried it myself, though.
