Cool! Could someone tell me how the thrust vectoring paddles are implimented? Are they controlled manually, or are they tied in with the elvevators? I'm trying to understand if the thrust vectoring happens with the normal stick inputs, or can the pilots manually control wether thrust vectoring is used or not used?

AFAIK, it's totally auto by the FCS. I don't think there's a manual control.

Looks to me as though when it did the "cobra" it was gaining altitude, which would make it not quite cobra like..?

The F-22 is not gonna perform a Cobra (even if it could) cause the Cobra is useless. Speed is life.
