I think that, unlike other combat aircraft, there is a fair bit of space between the Su-25T pilot's head and the top of the canopy. I grabbed some quick images of "Su-25T" using Google's image search and this space appears to be there in real life, too. Note the large gap between the seat and the canopy in the first picture.

Ah..yeah..if you just click on the link it gives an error..if you right click and "SAVE AS" it will let you..but I've changed them to .zip files so that should solve the problem..(hopefully!)

Thanks!

Well I have to admit that was the most harrowing flight I have ever done in my virtual career. I mean I'll think I'll stick to carrier landings. So when you get a chance BeachAV8R, pass me that spraycan \:D

I just want to say thanks for posting this. I had the time to sit and read through and it really helps a noob like myself. I keep feeling like I am getting better at this and then read something like this which reminds me of how much I still have to learn. I think I should just turn everything to realistic and let myself crash and burn for a while.

Unlike most of you, I am very new to flight sims in general and LOMAC is really my first. Going to go read your other two write ups now and I look forward to the follow ups that I hope you continue with. I don't want to ask to many noobie questions on the forums so the more stuff I can read like this, the better.

Ironhands site and lockonfiles have been wonderful reference points for me.

Glad your getting some good stuff out of it Destructis...doing these little reports is a 'give-and-take' process. Once in awhile I might write about something a rookie or veteran might not have seen in the manual..or (more often than not) I'll post something and then get some suggestions or ideas on how to better do something or a clarification of an issue. Everyone learns and it stokes some really good conversations.

Feel free to ask questions anytime...the knowledge base here of experienced users is deep..they can pretty much answer anything!

And definitely agreed on the Ironhand & Lockonfiles sites...a gold mine!

I do have a quesiton about Ironhands site. When downloading the videos, even though they are done with different aircraft, how much difference is there in each one. For example, I still have major problems with landings. Would the SU-25T video help me at all with the A-10 or would that do more harm than good?

Hello BeachAV8R

Great series on the SU-25T. I'm learning lots and I'm kind of the same boat as you in that I'm learning as I go with this aircraft. Your series is definitely helping particularly from your perspective as a commercial pilot. One question, if you don't mind, where is the custom red and white skin avaiable? I've checked here at SimHQ and Lockonfiles, but can't seemed to find it. Thanks in advance

That's a custom skin I specifically made for BeachAV8R by request, so it's up to him if he wants to release it.

Thanks Eric. You did a great job with that custom skin. Looks very much like the Canadian Snowbirds which you see at the Canadian airshows. If BeachAV8R sees this and decides to release it, that would be great.

thanks man, though it's more close to the T-45A Goshawk scheme that the USN uses.

I don't think you can do that with your stick, though.

Joe

I am using a cougar and would love to see the .tmm syntax you have used to get the flaps programed in this way. Could you post it up for me or PM me with it?

Thanks.

Polecat,
It turns out I was a bit mistaken. LOMAC does not have a command for "flaps down". It has three commands:
f - Toggle flaps up/down
SHIFT+f - Flaps down to the landing position
CTRL+f - Flaps up

So, I have my Cougar programmed to toggle the flaps up/down with a momentary press. If I hold the button the flaps lower to the landing position. The code below is standard Cougar syntax when you want to program a button to do one thing when pressed momentarily and another thing when held. It uses 3 logical flags.

BTN H2R KD(X5) DLY (200) KU(X5) REM toggle flaps OR landing flaps (delay)

REM Deploy landing flaps by holding H2R for 0.3s
DEF X6 NOT H2R and X5
DEF X7 DELAY (500) H2R
BTN X6 Flaps_toggle
BTN X7 Flaps_landing

Thanks Joe!
It took me a while to find my way back here. Here is one for you if you like. With this syntax if you hold S3 and TG1 in for 5 seconds when you enter the pit you will get a ramp start.

DEF X1 DELAY(5000) S3 AND TG1
BTN X1 Rampstart

RampStart = (LEngineStart DLY(2000) REngineStart DLY(2000) ToggleOnboardlights DLY(2000) Canopy DLY(5000) ToggleFlaps)

Also since the statements for Hook and drogueChute would never interfere with each other I have mapped these as dual purpose buttons (there by freeing up room for other button assignments)

BTN T10 /I (Hook DrogueChute)
/O Flare

Same with IRjamming and Jammer

BTN T9 /I (IRJamming Jammer)
/O Chaff

Thanks again Joe.
I have modified your Flaps syntax for use with S3 /I /O type logic statements as this is my standard for the files I create. It works excellent just as you described.

Out

Very cool training and well illustrated.

Flankertraing.com site is awesome too.

Would like to see an assortment of TM Cougar TMJ and TMM files too
