RAF Harrier Ground Attack Falklands by Jerry Pook

http://www.amazon.co.uk/RAF-Harrier-Ground-Attack-Falklands/dp/184415551X

Diario de Guerra del Radar Malvinas, by Mr. Miguel Angel Silva, about the TPS-43 radar installed in the islands and was used to guide the air attacks over the fleet, warning about SeaHarrier CAPs, helped with the release of the ground-based Exocet that hit HMS Glamorgan, was damaged by a Shrike in Black Buck 5 but repaired and back to work until end of the war.

http://www.radarmalvinas.com.ar/

FALKLANDS THE AIR WAR by BURDEN, Rodney A, et al, a comprehensive study of air combat during the 1982 Falklands War. Every detail is included in this history with illustrations throughout in the form of photographs, drawings, three-view drawings of aircraft, and even a small colour section of the squadron crests.

http://www.abebooks.com/servlet/BookDetailsPL?bi=272371060&searchurl=y%3D15%26bsi%3D30%26tn%3DFalklands%2BAir%2BWar%26x%3D71

(thanks IvanK!)

Desde El Frente (From the Front) a detailed account about the intervention of the BATALLÓN DE INFANTERÍA DE MARINA Nº5 (translation would be 5th MARINE INFANTRY BATTALLION), in Malvinas (Falkland) Islands, in 1982. Written by the commander of the battallion and the collaboration of his Encargado de Batallón (it is roughly the person in charge of the battallion). Spanish only as far as I know.

(thanks Pablo Diez!)

Air War in the South Atlantic, by Ethell and Jeffrey L., with first-hand accounts from both British and Argentian pilots.:
http://www.biblio.com/books/39793989.html

Hostile Skies, by David Morgan, my favourite Sea Harrier book, it is not as technically in-depth as Ward's book but is more tense and dramatic:
http://www.amazon.com/Hostile-Skies-Davi...2742845-4539309

Sea Harrier over the Falklands, by commander Nigel 'Sharkey' Ward, technically in-depth and also a good read:
http://www.amazon.com/Harrier-Falklands-...TF8&s=books

Dios y los Halcones, ('God and the Hawks'), by Comodoro Pablo Marcos Rafael Carballo, in '82 was commanding officer of argentinean Grupo 5 de Caza, responsible for heavy losses inflicted in the Task Force, like HMS Coventry and the Fitzroy attack:
http://www.argentinidad.com/libros/malvinas/carballo.htm

Unfortunately only in spanish language and so far released only in Argentina, together with its 'brother' book Halcones de Malvinas, it's the most comprehensive and complete account of the air war through the argentinean pilots perspective - Halcones also is built like a series of chronicles describing missions from A-4 Skyhawk pilots, as well as Mirage V Dagger, Pucará, Camberra, C-130 Hercules, helicopter and even air defense garrisons. I got my copy through a friend who travelled in vacations to Buenos Aires. Seems quite rare outside of South America.

Vulcan 607, by Rowland White, The Epic Story of the Most Remarkable British Air Attack since WWII

Yo fui piloto Aviador Naval, ('I was a naval aviator') by Capitan de Navío(R.E.)Rodolfo Alberto Castro Fox

Also only in spanish language and unseen outside of Argentina so far.

La Guerra Inaudita, by Ruben Oscar Moro (thanks Baco!)
http://www.tematika.com/articulo/detalleArticulo.jsp?idArticulo=118872

One Hundred Days, by Sandy Woodward (thanks AWL_Spiner!)
http://www.amazon.com/One-Hundred-Days-Falklands-Bluejacket/dp/1557506523

Bomb Alley: Falklands 1982, by David Yates
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Bomb-Alley-Falkland-Islands-1982/dp/1844154173

Through Fire and Water: HMS "Ardent", by Mark Higgitt
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Through-Fire-Water-Forgotten-Falklands/dp/184018356X

Four Weeks In May - The Loss of HMS Coventry - "Four Weeks in May is a riveting account of how men prepare for a war they never expected to fight and how they endure its privations, terrors and, finally, its horrors."

http://www.hmscoventry.co.uk/fourweeksinmay.html

Last three books are naval warfare-focused but also on our subject since these warships suffered air attacks during the conflict.

**two interesting books added by forum member Manocruel

Exocet, by author Emilio Villarino, Abril Books S.A.

Los Dos Lados del Inferno ('the two sides of hell'), author Vincent Bramley, Planeta Books S.A.

Movies

Iluminados por El Fuego (Blessed By Fire)
http://www.iluminadosporelfuego.com/iluminados_flash.php?lang=en
(focused in ground war, drama movie with war frashbacks from a Malvinas veteran. It's a high budget, well rated movie).

1982 Estuvimos Ahi
http://www.creavision.com.ar/malvinasesp.htm
(It's a low budget movie with the polemical CG scene of the attack on HMS Invincible)

Thank you.

"Dios y los Halcones" (God and the Hawks) and "Halcones sobre Malvinas" (Hawks over Malvinas) are not edited any more; but they were both compiled in "Halcones de Malvinas" (Malvinas' Hawks). The three books were written by Comodore (R) Pablo Marcos R. Carballo based in his own experiences in the conflict and other pilots experiences; mostly Mirage, A-4 and Pucará pilots.
I don't think there is any English translation of those books.
Halcones de Malvinas is by far my favourite book about Malvinas.
Another great book from the perspective of a transport/tanker pilot (C-130 Hercules) is "No apagues la luz cuando te vayas" (Don't turn of the light when you leave) that can also be bought from http://www.ediciones.argentinidad.com/libros.htm (another one not translated to English, and unfortunately, the writer passed away recently.

About the movies, "Iluminados por el fuego" (Blessed by Fire, or Lightened by Fire, depending on the translator) was scripted by a COWARD who refused to take his post as a guard and another heroic soldier died in his place The film is indeed very good and dramatic from the artistic point of view (not entirely realistic since some parts are ficticious), but I don't have any respect for the author.

Yeap, totally disregard "Iluminados por el fuego": written by a coward with intention to denigrate the argentine armed forces and their intrevention in the conflict, for political reasons.

A G-R-A-T-E book is "La guerra Inaudita" from Ruben Oscar Moro. A good objective view not onlly regardin the military operations that are describe oure by oure, but a fantastic reaserch work on the Geopolitical aspect of teh conflict including all it´s mayor players, includion the U.N. OAS, Th U.S. foreihgn and domestic policy and domestic UK policy that influenced Thacher´s and Galtieri´s decisions.

GADGET: the SHAR manual was contribution of a Sea Harrier veteran who told me to keep his name in secret. Mirage, Skyhawk etc are easily found at the Kiwi online flight manuals website. Chris Kasie is also contributing with extracts from AV-8A (Harrier Gr.1) flight manual which are handy as performance is essentially the same for Harrier Gr.3 and not too far from SHAR as well.

Pablo Diez: yep I was aware, indeed the movie make your country's army look bad as it's shown during whole movie in retreat or being slaughtered - but it's indeed a visually stunning movie and for me it was worth alone for the scene of the Sea Harrier rockets attack and the .50 caliber response from the soldiers - although it was a Sea Harrier with a white belly! not used in the conflict, they were all 'charcoal' painted up and down during the travel south! (nit-picking! ;))

Baco: Thanks for the link, I've updated the books list! There's also a brazilian book in two volumes, written by a brazilian general, it's very good and ubiased, it's obligatory lectured in officer's academies here, it's a very important subject for the armed forces here because a)Brazil and Argentina have similar sized armies b) very close frontiers c)last modern war with comparable forces on both sides, including navy and carriers and all that in both sides, unlike Iraq, Bosnia...the name of the book is "Conflito das Malvinas" I've bought in Mercado Libre it seens quite rare too.

Not specifically on the air component, but 100 Days by Sandy Woodward is an excellent account of the overall conflict.

My issue with Sharky Ward's book is that I don't believe I have ever seen a book so arrogantly written. He both fought, and wrote about the war from the perspective of a fighter pilot. I'm not sure he gives Woodward enough credit for honouring other threats as he goes on his rants about how if Woodward had done what he suggested he could have conducted the war with far fewer losses or expense or whatever.

On the technical side, I'm sure there are few better books, it's a fantastic resource into the internal workings of the two squadrons, (Though I'd have loved to see the memoirs of his counter-part squadron commander as a comparison) and I understand that combat pilots by inclination tend to be a little self-inflating, but it was, at times, painful to read.

indeed, 3 star. i got the strong impression that ward, won the entire war..

..and not just that, but won the cold war too.

his greatness won the war and with that- he terrified the soviets into reassessing the willingness of democracies to wage war which had presumedly come into question since the vietnam conflict.

but i very much enjoyed reading it.

You should read David Morgan's excellent "Hostile Skies" - he puts across the 800 NAS side of the story very well indeed, and there are even one or two well-mannered digs at Sharkey's expense. Both enjoyable books, but I'm more likely to read Morgan's again.

Excellent. I'll see if I can't track down a copy. Such Euro-centric military accounts are not often found over here in the US.

Dear Dante-JT
I' have two book more about Malvinas.
The first: Name: EXOCET,Editorial: Abril SA, Autor: Emilio Villarino
