Thanks for the review.
I just got back into SFP1, and purchased WoE.
I am wondering if you might add some information about the upgrades to this mod. I got a little confused at first when going to the download link you provided.
The first files to show are actually upgrades for the mod, which do require additional downloads, installs, edits, etc.
A little bit of searching took me to the one-click Burning Sands package. Not a big deal.
SFP1/WoV/WoE are great fun. I just have to resist my initial skittish-ness, when installing add-ons and mods. I tend to go with the one-click installers.
Thanks, again for the heads-up about this campaign.

The Burning Sands 1983 SP4 Update was released after the original release of the campaign because of the major changes to the game after SP4. Please do not confuse the Burning Sands 1983 SP4 Update with the Burning Sands Upgrade II. These are two different campaigns. There is only one update for the Burning Sands 1983 Campaign. If you have any problems with install, let me know.

I've got this game, never messed with it much, but this mod sounds interesting, thanks.
Regarding installation, is it just install the game, and then the mod, and then the mod's SP4 update, or are there other patches needed for the original game first, too ?

Basically...that's it John P, as far as installation. But, it is important to unzip the original campaign file to a temp folder and copy everything except for the "Objects" folder to a clean install of SFP1 SP4. Next, delete the "Aircraft" folder located inside the "Objects" folder of your new install. Then, copy the "Aircraft" folder only from inside the "Objects" folder of the BS 1983 Campaign file to the "Objects" folder of your new install. Finally, install the BS 1983 SP4 Update...and you should be all set.

Good stuff, Chuck, thanks. I'd love to see some examples of guided munitions employment.
I'm currently flying YAP (payware addon to WOV), and it is a hoot.

Hi Vince,
Let me get this straight:
You made both the Burning Sands 1983 and Burning Sands 'Upgrade', corect?
As far as I can tell both campaignes have the following upgrade atructure or history:
_________________________________________
Burning Sands 1983:
Burning Sands 1983 Burning Sands 1983 SP4 Update _________________________________________
Burning Sands 'Upgrade':
Burning Sands 'Upgrade' Burning Sands 'Upgrade' II _________________________________________
Is this correct or am I completely off base?
Thanks.

Nift,
The Burning Sands Upgrade merely adds a few naval units to the existing stock campaign and puts them on carriers rather than them be land-based. Also, I think it adds a couple of RN and RAF units.
The Burning Sands 1983 is a whole other sphere of paraffin. It's all 80's-style fast jets from the Top Gun/Red Storm Rising era and a whole other campaign.

Rukow,
You'll need the original Strike Fighters to run Burning Sands 1983, but the good news is that Circuit City sometimes has it cheap, five bucks in a jewel case.
If you can't find a copy, yell at me. I've got a new one I'll let you have for cost + shipping. USPS Priority Mail. Paypal preferred.

Thanks for the offer & fast reply, PFunk! I have a mint copy of SF:P1 myself It just didn't run as smooth & stable as more recent Third Wire games so I barely played it. Will try latest paches - just to enjoy the mod rukow

LOL, I never check the forums on the weekends, either. Too busy either gaming or AFK to do it. Of my over 18k posts, less than 1k are from weekends. The Jedi Master
