Not really: this thread has been on or near the front page of the forum ever since its inception. It has managed to stay alive very well, with no artificial life support. I hope the postings won't diminish in here, now that it is automatically on top.

I just saw the movie "Flyboys" great film on this topic, young american volunteers flying for the fresh french airforce in WW1 before US entered the war. Well played (and mostly true)story, great dogfight scenes and good sound and on top of it all not hero making movie. Just a good story from WW1. See it

They even got the typical red "Reichsluftstreitkräfte"-shoes right! The Germans were pioneers in hi-viz footwear for airmen, a fact that isn't widely known.

Oh that's right!

And part of the proceeds for each pair purchased went towards the appropriation of a new Rottenkampffliegerzug!

Actually the title of the thread should be changed too: I suppose that people having an interest in the development of this sim know the engine is brand new, but I doubt any newcomer will read 140 pages to learn that the IL2 engine will not be used for KoTS.

Then they would be hard pressed to explain why this thread is in here and not on a forum of its own

Thanks for the info -- yes, I would not read hundreds of pages to extract the detail. And, yes, if its not IL-2 related, it could use its own sub-forum heading -- because, then, relevant info could be broken down into several sticky threads (e.g. engine info, release date info, etcetera) and one would not have to read hundreds of pages.

Personally, I am very interested in a new WW1 sim. But only if it is hard-core as this one seems to be (arcade sims need not apply) \:\)

Sapphire Pulse RX7900XTX, 3 monitors = 23P (1080p) + SAMSUNG 32" Odyssey Neo G7 1000R curve (4K/2160p) + 23P (1080p), AMD R9-7950X (ARCTIC Liquid Freezer II 420), 64GB RAM@6.0GHz, Gigabyte X670E AORUS MASTER MB, (4x M.2 SSD + 2xSSD + 2xHD) = ~52TB storage, EVGA 1600W PSU, Phanteks Enthoo Pro Full Tower, ASUS RT-AX89X 6000Mbps WiFi router, VKB Gladiator WW2 Stick, Pedals, G.Skill RGB KB, AORUS Thunder M7 Mouse, W11 Pro

Which is exactly why it needs its own forum. Here we have a game that is no longer connected with IL2, is based in a different era and still it only justifies a single unwieldy thread in the IL2 board.

There are many points of interest about the development of KotS buried deep in this thread that are no longer accessible unless you start reading this 2000+ reply thread from the very first post.

SimHQ have said they won't give KotS its own forum until it's 90 away from release. That is a SimHQ policy, which is fair enough I suppose, until you spot the Storm Of War forum. We all know that title is no where near 90 days until release. So there must be an exception to the rule we can use.

This game needs its own sub forum. Slap started a thread calling for a KotS forum. If you feel the same add your name to that thread

http://www.simhq.com/forum/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=142205&page=1#Post142205

If enough people add their name, then surely SimHQ staff cannot ignore us.

I don't think that's a detail at all!
The justification is that the SimHQ staff is not sure this sim will eventually be completed while they have no doubt SoW will be. I don't how much of a fuss it is to delete a forum section if, God forbids, this happens.

SimHQ have no doubt SoW will be completed, but question whether the dev team in the office next door, in the same building under the same software development umbrella company will manage to complete.
My point being, can we really be 100% sure SoW will be completed given the initial release for it was 2005. If SoW can have a forum with less posts in it than this thread, than surely there is justification for a KotS forum.
