Very impressed with the alpha demo. Just a couple of questions tho:

- What do those buttons around the map do?
- Will we be able to issue commands to friendly forces up to a certain scale? If so, what's the highest level (company? platoon?)
- The volume for the crew communication sounds seem quite low compared to other sounds. Was it the problem of my soundcard/headset or it happens to everybody?

All sounds in the demo are very crap and unreal.
The 500 horsepower engine of T34 sounds as a "fiat panda" with 55 horsepower.
Please Rainer say to one of the dev team, they should better go to a museum with a recorder and let real sounds recording on it.

Special the weapon sounds of 76.2mm F-34 L / 42 sounds like a rifle, not as a main gun cannon.

Tracers of big main gun ammo have the same size as tracers of a maschine gun ammunition. Make it bigger please.

And make it possible that player can hear the flight of a shell through the air.
The right sounds enviroment are very very important for game like this.

Color of gras and trees are to artificial. In reality you can´t find those gras, trees etc.

Rainer isn't involved with Graviteam and Kharkov.

You can make comments yourself to the dev team on the Graviteam forums here Graviteam Steel Fury Forum The forum is mostly in Russian although there are quite a few English replies in the various threads now. Use the Google translator to translate the pages.

Extract all files.

Go to 'OPEN' folder, run starter.exe

I downloaded the multipart rars (4 or 5)
When you extract starting with the first .rar file it will extract all to a folder named OPEN.

Ok. I downloaded that, and it works.

The english one is completely screwed up. There's no folders whatsoever, all of the files are just put inside the zip.

Some of the Devs might want to look into that.

Seems to be a lot of whining going on about this ALPHA demo. Personally I think its bloody marvellous, Ive been waiting for this one (or one like it) since the suicidal disapointment of Panzer Elite. I am convinced that as an alpha release it will end up somewhat more polished but for now I am having a whale of a time taking on the might of the Panzers in my little T34. Sure the controls are not intuitive but learning the finger skills is half the battle. I think this one is here to stay and has massive potential. Very immersive and so far the best WW2 tank simulation ive seen and Ive seen a few (Was involved with PEDG way back when in cahoots with Waycool ...anybody heard from him of late ?)

I for one am hooked and have played out the 2 scenarios many times never the same thing twice.

Big fan here 2 THUMBS UP !

There you go... play the game. You know, double click on the executable.

Any good tips (or articles) on how to use the sights on this thing?

I mean, I guess it would just be a guy who you know, grabs bananas and runs. Or, um, a banana that grabs things. I don't know. Why would a banana grab another banana? Those are the kind of questions I just don't want to answer. -Michael Bluth

I've been getting the following error message that kicks me out of the game. I think it has something to do with the detail settings:

Quote:
Exception core:
005: Unable to load texture.

[ noise ]

This comes up in a text file named last_bug. Anyone else having this problem?

I know. \:\) I was just wondering if it was something that the developers already know about.

Translated FAQ from forum.graviteam.com

Quote:
First of all, DO NOT CHANGE setting textures. Thus leave "Compression"

Find and delete the file
data/k42/loc_rus/config/config.engcfg
then run the game.

Thanks, 1_m! I figured it was something to do with the texture settings.

Listen, developers know about that;) Some sounds (like T-34 sound) will be in the game. The rest of 'em, I think will be added in patches or add-ons. They have a lot of work to do except the sounds:)
At this moment I know only one project where developers count how the shell (different kind of'em) will impact on the armour during the collision; Make night battles; Make FULL tank commander's duties etc. So I can live without realistic sounds at this time. \:\)

Just downloaded it last night and played it for about an hour. The game looks very cool for an Alpha Demo. Finally we are seeing some good work on a armor sim. Hope the games not only continues to improve but makes it to market without losing any planned improvements.

Good job developers!
