What is the best and most comprehensive book about the Supermarine Spitfire ever?
I’m talking hardcover coffee table size etc.

If you can get hold of it "Sigh for a Merlin" by Alex Crenshaw http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0859790924/102-4718010-7086517?v=glance&n=283155 one of my fave aerial books.

Alex was the chief test pilot at Castle Bromwich, so it is a book straight from the horses mouth.Good reading.

I don't know if there is a single 'best' or comprehensive book on the craft. Depends what you like to read \:\)

Whoa!
”Spitfire the history” just arrived with the mail and it’s HUUGE!
Thanks for the recommendation as it seems to be just what I was looking for.
Get back to you all as soon as I read it, with my present time schedule that will be early autumn.
