So, you may try seraching for the said game screenshots, to get an idea, how detailed will be the ground units in BoB.

Vladimir, you has very old info about it.
All models that you saw by the case are not from RTS game. 99% are done from zero. And just small part from RTS game are moved into BoB with great modification. Simply RTS do not model the theater that we model in BoB...
Really BoB sim has already better models than in RTS, becasue we are preparing the new series for more greater lifetime on the market than this RTS game. The standards are not RTS game standards. Not all features that are developed in models will be in use in release of BoB... They will be opened later (like we were opening new features and even second engine in Il-2 series) with the releases of more and more power home PCs.

However in future, because in RTS game are done a lot of ground models we plan to use them with modification to the standarts of BoB and coming after BoB series of WWII time sims.

So please do not distribute your opinion. It is wrong.

Also, if RTS used modified enough Il-2 engine, then BoB is completely new engine in all items, including physics. No one part of code from RTS game is present in BoB engine. However I must say that two of my team guys were constantly working over RTS game engine and vehchicles models for a long time. So you may see there visual effect of this work (in engine and especially in vechicles/tanks/artillery models).

The Aircraft in RTS game are from Il-2 series. But not all of them, just small part is present there for the gameplay (its not a flight sim you know).
You may meet our planes in several other released and coming games.... Again not all, but just part. One of them for example is "PT Boats" sim."

Correct me if I'm wrong, but this post by Oleg makes it sound like the BoB engine is almost modular, in a way -- Oleg can "turn on" more powerful features of the engine via new products as home computers get more powerful -- but everything will still mesh together into one big package...

Now THAT is what I call lasting value...

hmmm...just like in Fb/PF...

forest=1 or 2 or 3....
or add the following line to your
conf.ini.file
TypeClouds=1 or 2

in BoB you can add the line

Grass=1 or 2 or 3 then add
MoodyBlues=1
AtmosphericLighting=2
and lastly GF=1...or 2....

very advanced programming...and these features were there the whole time.

You misunderstand me, or quite possibly I am misreading Oleg's words here...what I'm getting at is not so much .ini file ticks that let you get better stuff with a better computer, but whole chunks of code that can be inserted via new products not unlike how one would put a new hard disk drive into one's computer and integrate it into the system. It's a workable hypothosis, anyway...albeit based on pure speculation... ;\)

Well, that's what's been done on IL-2 to become FB, PF and to make use of some of those lines in the Conf.ini ...
Only, with BoB Oleg's more experienced and the whole process is hopefully handled in a more seamless and efficient way.

Airplanes are now built to carry a pilot and a dog in the cockpit: the pilot's job is
to feed the dog, and the dog's job is to bite the pilot if he touches anything...
