I hope all the clicks can be put on the keyboard then. I'd love to have to get correct mixtures and settings to be able to start the engines. Then there is the management in flight

I really don't understand the fascination with clickable cockpits, but each to their own. The only use for them I can imagine in a WW2 combat sim is in a complex startup routine. Trying the grab tiny handles with my mouse pointer is just an exercise in frustration.

Clickable cockpits are utterly useless in the absensce of MFDs.

I've never seen the big attration of clickable pits. Most flight sims fans will invest in a good HOTAS and have most of those commands that you'd use in a clickable pit mapped to buttons on their HOTAS anyway. Even those without a HOTAS with lots of programmable buttons will find it easier to reach forward and press a button or a combinations of buttons (i.e Shift + a key) to perform a flight command. Easier than to reach to their desktop for the mouse, move the mouse to a very small part of the screen where the virtual button is in the pit and select it. All while perhaps performing a combat manouvre with the plane rolling, shaking etc. I'd rather see the development time spent elsewhere and who knows how much more time is needed to develop a single plane with individual clickable pits, especialyl in multi-crewed planes. Imagine having to create the IL-2 planeset all over again and make each pit clickable!

The last thing you need is to have to take your hand off the stick to click a button that's a couple of pixels across, try doing it with your off hand and you're going have problems unless you are properly ambidextrous or have spent the last five years training your offhand to work a mouse in which case I yell at thee 'GET THYSELF A LIFE!', they're alongside and oft mistaken for the beer Dano.

IMO clickable cockpits are good only for airliner sims. And most important of all how do you think it will work with the track IR?? Nonsense right?

Like we can see the landing gear or trottle now.

I find animated trim wheels really usefull, especially with the slightly weird way the system works in IL2.

I agree with everyone. Clickable cockpit are nice flying Cessna. Not so nice when there is a bf-109 on your tail Indeed, and seeing as the AI are not bound by any of the restrictions that we human pilot face they would be totally pointless.

My sentiments exactly.... I would like tosee every control that is mappable have a corresponding lever or switch move on the screen..... Now while we have many functions that do that.. like the light switches on the P-40.. the gerar indicator lights on many planes.. the trim wheels and the K-14 gunsight controlls... it bites that things like the radiator leves arent moveable... in a Mustang or other non radial plane without the Hudlog you have no clue where you are once you miss counting clicks...
Start where you are. Use what you have. Do what you can.

I agree cockpit animations are very useful. A quick glance at the lever tells you what your flap status is, an animated trim wheel makes sense of Olegs strange trim movement.
Yes, animate everything in the cockpit please.

Watch this movie and you will see what clickable pits are all about. It’s one of our aircraft created for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2004 Wings of Power Heinkel He 219 “Owl” movie download: http://www.gamershell.com/news/28638.html It’s a given that all flight sim should have functions mapped to either your joystick or the keyboard. Allowing the user to reach for the mouse to manipulate all the systems in the cockpit is a pretty natural thing to do. I don’t think it is necessary to give a good air combat experience, but it really is nice especially when you are in that mode of just operating the “machine” when in cruise, takeoff, landing, etc. Scott
