Hi all,
I have just been reading the current issue of a Magazine called Flightpath Volume 17 Number 4 May-July 2006 issue.
There is an interesting article on page 26 called Second Time Around.
It is about a man called Steve Vizard who runs a business on the Isle on Wright at Sandown Airport called Airframe Assemblies Limited.
The article talks about the well publicised recovery for Hurricane P2725 from London’s Buckingham Palace Road after deliberately ramming a Dornier during the opening stages of the Battle or Britain. It was reportedly the first enemy aircraft brought down over London during the Battle or Britain.
The main reason for me posting this, is that the article describes how Steve’s team do an incredible amount of research regarding every reported crash and then go to the location to find what ever remains.
So if the Maddox team are looking for historically accurate information about what engagements took place when and where (even down to the serial numbers of the aircraft involved) then I would suggest these people would be the place to go.
I do not work for Flightpath magazine or have any other association with them but it’s a good quality publication (produced four times a year) so if you are interested you can try emailing them at [subscriptions (at) yaffa dot com dot au]
This particular issue is mainly about the Spitfires 70th Anniversary and is full of articles about the legendary Spitfire.
I could not find a web site for them.
Regards
