If it comes with SF, they should pay you to use it.

Take it from one who had extreme doubts for a long time. It's worth the $15 bucks.

I went for the download version and have been fine so far with Starfarce. Glad to see it's on its way out though.

I really want FC, but in light of the humungous crap-storm that Starforce has churned up, I simply can't bring myself to do it. I suppose the same now applies to Black Shark, too.

It's tragic.

You hear almost zero complaints about the d/l version of SF. That's what most of my squad has and not one of us has had issues. The complaints come from the CD check version.

Using Lock On Gold's CD for FC, no problems at all here. Only slightly annoying about the CD check once every week, but its better than keeping the CD in at all times.

Have Loack on - upgarded with the CD version of flaming cliffs and then the patch to get FC to 1.12a - absolutely no trouble here at all.
I also have silient hunter 3 installed. Noy one bit of trouble there too.
I'm starting to get into FC. The graphics are awesome on it. Between FC and JF-18 my computer time it taken up lol.

There are different kinds of SF. FC uses a disc-only check for the CD. It doesn't use the "code tied to a particular disc" version like Splinter Cell 3 does. I've had issues with that version, but never with the one FC uses.

As for BS, ED hasn't yet decided what to do according to them.

Just bought Lockon gold,installed- patched to 1.12a-no problems, runs great.
My question is can I install again without FC ,patch to 1.02 and play either version online?

Yes, you can do that (at least with the download version of Flaming Cliffs). There's a guide on the lockon.ru forums, but it basically involves taking a copy of the directory before installing FC, and then running the game using the .bat files.

How do you get the once a week disc check? My copy (patched to 1.12a) still checks every time.

Take the disc out of the drive. If it's in it checks every time.

Nope I get the same as vertical. CD version of FC all patches etc. Works fine but when I try to start it without the CD it always comes up with the Starforce popup regarding the missing CD. I just shrug now and put the CD in but it can be quite irritating at times.

I dunno. Mine hasn't asked for the CD since I've taken it out as ruggbutt said. \:\)

So you start it with the CD and then take the CD out and then after that it only asks for it once a week? Ok I didn't try to do that. I'd always just tried to start it without the CD and then when it didn't work put the CD in and fly and when finished and LOMAC was shutdown I'd take the disk out to do something else (heresy ;\) hehe)

Hey ruggbutt, that worked I always wondered how people got it to read only once a week.
Thank for that.

So does the CD version include all that starforce activation crap or is that only in the download version? I mean, I know the CD has starforce, just wondering about the activation. When I read the review on SimHQ, there was supposedly a patch to remove the starforce hooks. But on the website, it only says that's for the demo version.

And while on the subject of the website, IMHO I think it's pretty lousy to make you register with all your personal info, just to download a patch!
