Is there night-vision in the russian fighters or in LockOn?
I presently only fly the A10 and can't seem to find any night vision capabilities for making and flying night missions.

Pilots NVG's: Not yet (Black Shark will have it for the Ka-50)

Su-25 Illumination flares: Yup.

Su-25T podified LLTV system: Yup. Mercury pod. Although, in game it seems to act more like a white-hot IR imager than LLTV.

A-10 'MacGuyver Night Vision': Yup. AGM-65 IR seeker head.

this brings up a good point...why aren't there any NV MOD's? is it just too hard to model effectively, or just no intrest? I know I would DL it in a second!

Lock On is a closed-architecture sim. That means that, while there are plenty of mods for textures (sun/moon, aircraft skins, cockpit textures, etc.), users cannot just add/edit models or make broader changes to the sim; those sorts of things require changes on the closed side. Nightvision is one of those broader changes. A hack might be to paint everything green, but I certainly don't think that would come off too well.

I bet you'd have better results putting green Saran Wrap over your monitor. \:\)

a work around for that is tweaking the rgb color of you monitor, instead of the driver so if you dont like it just set the monitor to default.

The illumination from your power button would blind you with NVGs on. LOL....

IMHO the LOMAC creators got sorta lazy with regarsd to A2G combat... No AG radar capabilities, no NVG's, No laser guided bombs...ect...

You are of course entitled to your opinion...
but I have to wonder if you have ever done any air-to-ground combat in Lock On. There is no air-to-ground radar because none of the aircraft in Lock On have air-to-ground radar. There are laser-guided bombs, carried by the Su-25T and guided by the onboard laser designator. It is the only aircraft in Lock capable of guiding laser-guided weapons; the A-10 modeled in Lock On is of a generation that is not capable of guiding laser-guided weapons, although apparently modern A-10s can.

All air-to-ground aquisition systems are modeled accurately in Lock On: the A-10 maverick display, the Su-25T TV system, and the Su-25T low-light IR system. We have an excellent array of dumb bombs, cluster munitions, and even some freaky Russian stuff I don't know how to use properly like laser-targetted gun pods and TV-guided bombs.

Air to ground combat in Lock On has a decidely "low tech" feel to it, but lazy is IMO far from a good way of describing its modeling.

What Joe said.

I fail to see why so many people apparently want to fly strike and interdiction missions in CAS aircraft. Anyone know if A-10 Cuba caught that type of flak (I wasn't playing sims back then)? It just seems irrational to expect LOMAC to cater to these mission profiles given the flyable aircraft it features. Almost like being disappointed in the lack of AA-missiles in Il2.

Now, if complaints were made about the lack of a meaningful AI FAC implementation (aswell as the general incompetence of the AI) then that might actually be a valid point for a CAS-centric sim.

EDIT: just a nitpick, even the Su-25T cannot use LGBs as its nosemounted designator can't slew downward far enough to keep lasing the target during/after overflight (mandatory with unpowered bombs because they tend to lag the carrier aircraft after release). It CAN use laser-designated missiles though (so can the vanilla Su-25) and, thanks to the screen in the cockpit, TV-guided bombs and missiles (which the normal Frog can't). The Su-25(T) and the A-10 could theoretically drop LGBs, but only if the target is designated by either another aircraft or ground troops (so complaining about the lack of buddy lasing would be another valid criticism).

The A-10 can carry flares as well, it helps for night A/G.
