It's quite simple:
BIS developed OFP and now AA.
Codemasters owns the rights to the "OFP" name.
If AA is published anywhere but Codemasters, it can't be called OFP. If it is published there, they could call it that.
BIS is also developing a next-gen title. OFP2 is what some are calling it, but that would also be inaccurate becasuse of the previously mentioned rights issues.
CM may elect to release a title called OFP2 that is not made by BIS, much as Ubisoft is making more Far Cry games but they will not be by Crytek.

Jedi Master is right on.

On the topic; I thought that second pic was something out of EECH. Does'nt look like a new game at all. Especially considering all the ridiculously hi-poly (and waste of time) models of the missiles they have made.
What I dont get is why all the tiny details on all the vehicles when the terrain looks so flat and boring. IMO terrain is alot more important than tiny vehicles you barely see when you're flying.

Flat and boring , are we talking lockon here? The terrain is the best for any flight sim.

The detail of lockons map is quite high you can't see that in the screenshots but you might get an idea if you download the FC demo. Its quite good the area in the demo mission is near the mountain ranges so you can fly there and take a look. FC also features alot of real life locations from the area. Its good enough for tank sims and helicopters. If you look at the original OFP the trees are quite similar to lockons. You need a decent PC to run FC P2.4gig with 1 gig ram and 128mb graphics card(dx9)

BTW the pic with the Fulcrum is a trench that parallels a road and a rail way line. A train leaves the power plant at 12pm daily(it travels halfway across the map because I followed it once \:D ). The powerplant makes a good target and the trench is good for low level flying . The lockon map also features grid coordinates and the editor allows 2 different modes to view it. In the ports the cranes are animated, on the roads there are civilian and military vehicles if you have CIV traffic turnned on.(this includes trains both civilian and military) There are also trees from simply shelter belts on farms to full forests. There are also civilian ships in the ports and in the bays.

Blade, with all do respect: please stop trolling. All the pics that other posters have posted provide that the terrain in LOMAC is extremely well done.

Now, that you don't LIKE the game, cause its obvious you don't, is an entirely different matter.

Let's move on please.

Well said, the Mig pic may not have been the best example but there are hundreds more around the net that show Lock On has been an step forward in terrain detail for flight sims.

In the second last pic the terrian looks pretty good upclose. Could be better, but works good for a helo sim.

But I am betting that screen shot was taken at a high res like 1600/1200, because even at 1280/960 that I play at, my ground textures don't look that good. If you want to see good terrian, you need a good PC... getting better terrian textures would be useless if your PC can't display them... :rolleyes:


Also a member of the ED team posted this on the lockon.ru fourms not too long ago:

"Sorry guys.
At this week we haven't any pictures.
All week we hard working around AI and gun physics, adjust avionics for chopper and solve system issues. Today we have provided first experiments with gun ricochet at armor vehicles and make some steps with ground texture improvements.
I think, next week we shall be able to show anything new."

I am guessing that the textures are being improved a little.
