I'm messing around with F4, and I'll be posting in here fairly often from here on out. Expect my honest opinion about this aged but fine sim.

You going to be messing with Allied Force or Falcon 4?

I hope so, it's installed on my h/d and I've been spending some time on my HOTAS profile. I've got the badazz pit setup (with 2 touchscreens, can you say interactive ICP? \:D ).

While I don't have alot of time with AF (I uninstalled it after it first came out cuz of the lack of AA/multiple controllers). And I'm coming back from years ago with vanilla F4. I got tired of fighting the which mod I should install, so AF is a godsend for those of us who have already spent wayyyyy too much time "keeping up w/the Joneses".

And before you ask, I'm the best sim pilot I ever met. \:D

Man, welcome ruggbutt. You are gonna like this sim, done quite well, even with some of the bugs in it. Still, no sim is perfect now is it? \:D

What kind of HOTAS system you got? If it is an X-52, I can provide you with a pretty good template for control input options if you like. PM me if interested.

I've got a CH Fighterstick, ProThrottle, Pro Pedals, TQ and a DT225 (great for radar and Mav pipper targeting). I'm also going to have to work on some profiles for TouchBuddy. I don't do the clickable pit thing so I'll be "remaking" the '16 pit graphics and applying it to my TB profile. In fact, TB does a great job of making a clickable pit for any sim. If anyone here wants to see how I made the F15 pit "clickable" for LOMAC, check out this thread . In fact, the touchscreens are so immersive that several times I've transitioned from my 17" touchscreen to pushing on my 27" main monitor. Of course this was when I first got the 17, cuz I'm over that now (I hope ;\) ). If you wanna see the DT225 in action, I made a "promo" vid for it a while back. Grab it here . I couldn't fly w/out the DT225 and I blame all that on 531 Ghost. \:D He told me for over a year that I needed the 225. Turns out he was right. Debby at CH is the bomb for hooking me up. w00t!!!

The '16 graphics are going to take a while, but I have most of the hard parts done as I can reuse switches and knobs from my F15 profile. And I'm in the middle of one for the A10 which uses many of the same switch types as the '16 does.

Yeah, I was following that thread. Pretty cool stuff you have implemented there. Don't know whether you'd be able to utilize alot of that with Falcon Allied Force but curious to see if you can. It looks a bit out of my price range though...man that is a lot of stuff... \:\)

You can use it all in Falcon. IIRC Sytrep on the TB forums has a Falcon profile he's finishing up and it looks great. I was gonna take it one step further. If you can map the clickable pit commands to a keyboard command, then it can be done in TouchBuddy.

I like the availability of the clickable pit, but I don't like having to use a mouse with my flying hand. With TB I don't have to. And hey, aren't we all trying to make things more immersive? What's more immersive than touching the spot where the switch is (in the cockpit) with your hand? I mean besides building a '16 pit?

Ruggbutt, stop by Multivipers server when you get a chance. It is a fun place to fly.

It'll be a while before I hop on a server. I have alot of refreshing to do, and at this stage with my business going strong I don't even fly the other sims I fly with my squad. My timing is horrible because RL really messes with my free time.

I appreciate the invite though.
