Oh! I see what you mean.
If the resolution EXCEEDS the design resolution of the 'pit, then yes, quality loss will occur. Whether this loss is distinguishable or not however is subjective, and depends on several factors (monitor, the way the image is stretched by the computer when drawn etc).
Equally, drawing a high-resolution pit in a smaller resolution can result in lost quality also, again depending on how it is resized. Basically: try and it and see.
I've found the pits to be VERY frame-rate friendly, and very clear.
