There are not that many sims that I know of that convey that feeling well. I still have great memories in that field with titles like JSF (EIDOS) and F22ADF/TAW. It of course also depends on the system running the sim. Anyway, the big 'competitor' LockOn is also far from great regarding sense of speed. On my system F4AF runs great and feels great, but indeed not like a 1 Mach jet (at least don't think so, cause I never flew in one )

I'm not sure what it is you are looking for but F4 IMO has some of the better speed sensation out there. Unless you are really down in the weeds (like 100ft), you aren't going to get much speed rush at all. Most of the time you are just going to get there faster!

I think this point really shows the age of the Falcon engine. Unlike SimFan I think LockOn does a far better job of portraying the speed of the aircraft, especially when flying at low altitudes.

You could always build or buy yourself a curved screen and three projectors...

Hi, It is mostly psychological. If you are there with the jet flying it, thinking ahead, planning your next move then the jet will seem as if it is positively static to the ground vs. flying a jet you've let get ahead of you (you'll know when that happens). It goes from being controlled flight to flight that controls you. You'll suddenly feel like you are going way too fast, and things are happening before you wanted them to. I think Falcon does a great job. Yes the terrain etc.. adds to the effect, but despite that, it is still "modelled" correctly. The only way it could possibly be wrong is if distance itself was distorted. --TangoShadow

I think this is the definitive answer.
