With 1.06 I'm able to use anisotropic filtering now without all the problems and that's outstanding. Was always able to use Anti-Aliasing because I only use drivers that came with the BFG Tech 6600GT that I have, driver version is 71.84.

I tried the 81.xx drivers but a problem I had was my mouse cursor stopping in one place (at the desktop, never in falcon), but I could still tell the mouse was moving, although invisible..the cursor would stay still.

I didn't know if this was a problem with my rig, or if it was induced by F4:AF.

I'm just wondering if I should consider updating to newer drivers for performance increase, or will the AA and AF not be usable then?

Anyone have similar issues, or good performance now with 1.06 and new Nvidia drivers?

I'm on a P4 2.8, 1GDDR ram, WINXP sp1, res 1024x768@32 bit 4:3 ratio.

Kid, 71.84 is a very good driver for your card. Unless you have problems keep using it. I don't think you'll get any tangible improvements with later detonators.

Sorry, should have mentioned that. It's AGP 128mb cause I don't have a PCI express MB \:\(

Also did some further testing today on my existing drivers, and with Mipmapping models I take a fairly strong FPS hit, but it keeps airbases and such from rolling/shimmering so bad, but the FPS hit is too much for me to leave it enabled.

Additionally, the ansiotropic filtering at 4x on this card makes the graphics look much cleaner, especially at a distance, but even with mipmapping terrain enabled the shimmering is evident.

So I reverted back to having anisio application controlled in my graphix card setup, and use terrain mipmapping enabled, object mipmapping disabled; and I get very nice framerates with decent graphics quality.

Bummer though, I like what Ansio does for the image when flying, but alas the terrain rolling/shimmering issue is unacceptable personally.

what i have found thru testing , on my card profile
for F4AF i set the
anisotropic filtering application control checked
antialias setting application control checked
image setting quality checked
vertical sync off
force mipping none

then in game graphic setting i have
anisotropic filtering checked

also why are you on SP1 and not SP2 ?

i was just reading my box specs and it says with latest service packs , which for windows XP would be SP2.

i don't know how much that effects in game fps but mybe some else might know that answer.

with my old computer i had to install the SP2 ,
man that was a pain , took me 2 days to get it right , but i don't know much bout puters,

luckly this new puter came with it installed already

Yeah, most of don't use SP2 for windows as it sucks.

I use 4x antialiasing right now, and in the past without any issues except a slight FPS hit. I also use vertical sync enabled for sync refresh rates in the 3d world.
