I noticed that I can fly missions that I wasn't scheduled for but is there a way to not fly at all. I'm still on Day 1 of my first campaign and I've already flown 4 times. There's two more flights left and it looks like I have to fly one of them. Can I just speed up time and miss the take off or will I be penalized for this?

yeah -- just don't fly a mission and speed up time. it doesn;t hurt your record at all (i'm 99% sure of that).

what i do is give myself a 5 hour shift each day -- and i just fly 3-5 missions is all. that way it keeps my kills from going whako from the rest of the squad, and makes going for the top gun a real challange.

Sure, there's not requirement that you fly a particular mission, or any missions at all. You can pick any mission on the list, or create a new one, whatever.

In the original F4 the performance of the AI on your side was in part tied to your performance, and after you went 6hrs or so without flying the rating would start to drop. I haven't heard this specifically mentioned in AF but I would assume that it is still there.

Personally I fly a lot in the first and second day, then by the third (or whenever things start to slow down a bit) I'll spend more time managing the ATO and only get in 4-5 or so missions a day.

also you can join other squads too , or other bases, i'm new at this (F4AF) so i'm still learning my self, i like the whole Dynamic campaign of F4AF, it does make you feel your part of a large campaign operation .

unlike Lomac where you just fly a set mission where every thing is the same every time you fly it, you begin to know eactly where and when the enemy is gonna attack or appear, hey but you sure look pretty fly the mission, it's like that movie ground hog day . there i got my Lomac bashin out of the way.

in F4AF as i said i'm new at this sim , i made the mistake of setting campaign on veteran and i'm getting my a_s kicked , but i have another campaign set as rookie so i jump back and forth,
and it's always all different no Ground Hog Day here .
