Hi All,

Happy New Year first of all!

Now, back to business \:\)

The latest with Patch 1.0.5 is that the actual patch is working great. What we're doing at the moment is working hard with the producers of the patching software to ensure that 1.0.5 installs correctly on as many set ups as possible. There are one or two issues and these are being corrected, and is the reason why 1.0.5 has not been released so far. I've personally tested the patch from various states on various machines, including my heavily used systems through to much older machines (here's where family helps!) -- and it's been fine. However, one or two machines in the wider testing process are proving a little less co-operative. It's all a matter of getting the easiest update procedure flowing. Once that happens 1.0.5 will be released. It's not "doom and gloom" on the installation process at all -- we just want to get it spot on \:\)

my brother has a WinME system that AF wont run on, and the uninstall process didnt work either.

Had to remove it the hard way (regedit).

Funny thing is, IL2 Pacific Fighters and Americas Army - to other high end sims run fine on it.

Any ideas?

AV8R,

I have two legal copies of Win 2k that I no longer use. If your brother wants to go to the trouble of a new OS install, I will be glad to send him one.

Why not just realease a zip with simple install instructions? Who needs this GUI updater anyway? The holidays are over and you guys are still fixing the installer, if I got C3PO right.

BearTrax,

Very noble offer, thank you sir.

If he upgrades, Id like to see him go to WinXP so that he is at par with the rest of us.

Until then, I just cant figure out what keeping Falcon4-AF from running on his system with a 2Ghz CPU and ATI 9800 vcard.

Im wondering if RAM and SWAP are an issue.
What the min that we know AF will run on?
I think he has either 256 or 512mb ram.

The box says that minimum specs are:
Win 98/ME/2000/XP are supported
1.5Ghz CPU and 500MB of Windows Swap
but doesnt mention how much RAM is required.?!?!

regarding the patch...
Whatever LP does with the next patch, they better get it right. Else 2 bad patches in a row will set the tone for their Quality reputation going forward, including their next product.

Might follow in the footsteps of the NT4 patch theory - every second one is the one that works ;\)

Same theory goes for 'Star Trek' movies - every second one's the good one \:D

If thats the case, I think LP should skip 1.06 and move on to 1.07 right away \:D

Is there an official changelog for this patch published yet?

AV8R,
Professionally speaking I can tell you that WinME may indeed cause the problems.
That OS has been doomed by many for a reason.
During the 5! years we ran that OS on several (lower end/Dell laptops) machines it has caused a lot of headaches.
To name just two issue: on occasion the registry gets waxed (for no apparant reason). The boot sector: same problem.
Other sims reportedly seem to experience the same problems as AF may have with it.
Once these PC's were 'upgraded' (also hardware wise: memory only) to W2k/XP pro... no more problems.
(for once) we can trust M$ in this... time to upgrade ?

Well said, AV8R. But I'm aftaid this GUI updater is a serious risk factor considering wild range of systems. I just can't dig the LP's obsession with it.

I thought 1.05 was just a fix to 1.04, and not much else?

Hi

The reason is simple , the zip would be on a factor of 10x larger in size most likely if we didn't use RT patcher

C3PO,
Mission 24, Laser Guided Bombs, when you push zero to lock on a runway, it immediately jumps to nearest "point" it can LOCK UP on.
It does NOT allow you to LOCK on an AREA ever.
Is this a bug in the Mission or the entire use of GPU/LGB Laser Guided Bombs System?
Also, what does "angle of release" have to do with CCRP, CCIP, DTOS, etc. as I have tried changing it to various settings and the computer doesn't seem to pay any atttention to what you put in there and accuracy isn't thrown off or get better in any specific angle. Actually, I have found, I think it is a fluke though, that setting the angle to zero and flying level is the only way you have a chance of hitting the target and that isn't really good........usually take a lot of gunfire and SAM hits, I find though that in DTOS, if you take a steep climb, he either won't release the bombs or he misses by a mile even after setting the angle to say 45 degrees for that second line to come down and nice smooth flying right on the line of flight right at 45 degrees throws the bombs way off or doesn't release them at all. I will post this in a general post also, just thought maybe you could check it out and if anything valid, possibly slide it into the .5 Patch.
I am baffled???????

Release Angle is used for the first release cue.

As I understand the theory, if you begin a 4G pull when you get the first cue (first time the horizontal line hits your FPM) then when you hit the entered release angle, you should just about intercept the 2nd cue and you unload a bit so the system has a stable release solution.

In practice, the cue comes up far too soon for a 4G pull.

What you will notice is if you set a Rel Ang of like...5...you will have a MUCH shorter time between the pop up cue and the actual release.

According to the F4 manual I am pretty sure its a 2G pullup Teej - its still too soon but if you give it a 'one thousand two thousand' count and *then* pull 2G to the release angle (usually 23 deg) it works.

Speaking of 1.05...

Are we going to get some skins for the super hornets? Mine still dont show - I havent checked the AN-124 yet etc to see if they have skins. Is it just me or was this not fixed in 1.04?

Also are the ROK infantr units with DPRK hardware (and vice versa) fixed?

How about posting a fix list to keep us amused while we wait for the actual release? \:\)

Also this probably wont be fixed in 1.05 but hey something to aim for in 1.06... the A-10 still doesnt appear to use its primary weapons system - the GAU-8A Avenger - when piloted by AI.
