Hello! Since new pilots are being directed to this forum, I figured it'd be good to link to a sort of genealogy of Allied Force! http://www.falconhistory.com/ There's a timeline there that (while somewhat incomplete and ends in 2004) should give new folks an idea of what's happened since the Original Falcon 4.0 came out. Many of the names should look familiar to fans of AF.

Heh, yeah, I remember the first one. The crew chief always had her configured and ready to go. Then I'd go in and try to bump it over the weight limit.
It's amazing when you look at those single humungous pixels and then take a gander at F4:AF. A long ways traveled.

I still have the manual for Falcon I somewhere... Falcon has been the very 1st LAN game I ever played. Hooked up my Atari ST with a friend's Amiga via null modem cable to play it. The biggest technical problem with multiplayer games in those days was persuading my mom to transport me and my computer to a friend's house.

If I could travel back in time and show myself F4:AF back in 1993, the graphics would have made me crap myself.
Falcon wasn't on my radar back in the day, but I can remember when me and my college "pod-mates" (group of dorm rooms) went and got X-wing and a flightstick. there were 8 of us and we took 2 hour shifts. There was someone playing that game 24 hrs a day classes or not!...lol And I thought those graphics were mindblowing! Man they need to remake that game...LP?....lol

I played F3 quite a lot back in the day, along with the OFT, MiG-29, and Hornet add-ons! Never played the previous incarnations because I had a PC with 512K RAM at the time and Falcon AT wanted 1MB!! WTF?!?!? Are they CRAZY!??!? Who has THAT much RAM!?!!? The Jedi Master

Well, maybe we have lost the imagination which made those pixels into great pictures Anyway, sometimes I find myself whistling music from F3... Does anyone remember it?

I actually don't think that is too far off the mark. The more realistic looking sims get the more complaining I hear about how people can't suspend their disbelief because now they notice really, really obscure things. I remember having many a sweaty-palmed night playing F-15 Strike Eagle III over the 1200 baud modem with my buddy. Compared to today's graphics there is obviously no comparison..but man did we have fun. I still tend to look at the experience more than the visuals or technology. Good comment though..I agree..
