There seem to be SOME routers that will work. I think the D-Link may be one of them.
Linksys, Microsoft and Belkin (pretty much the same firmware as Linksys) seem to work. I think the D-LInk does as well. It may also depend on the firmware revision level.
People have have had varying results with port fwding vs. DMZ. DMZ seems to be the most 'reliable' option, though it exposes you. Hosts running in router DMZ's have also had to take down other firewalls (e.g. ZoneAlaram) even if LB2 has been given permission to pass through the firewall.
Good luck! Let us know the results!

P.S. Send me a PM and I might be able to help test depending on the timeframe. I run behind a Netgear router, but that hasn't caused any problems as CLIENT.

Have you tried the dgVoodoo wrapper? That wrapper can synch the refresh to i.e. 60Hz and effectively slows down the game to that fps so no need to slow down the cpu. Might solve your multiple key-press issue. dgVoodoo 1.40+

oh sure Swag, when I told you that it wasnt a good idea. When hosting with the DLink router, I have to kill my firewall. Make sure that youre behind a hardware firewall or at least some software firewall that is compatible with LB2 (Zonealarm doesnt always work with LB2). When I dropped my ZA and put my self in the DMZ on the DLINK, I left my system open to the raw WWW-inet. As a result, i ended up with what I think is a virus that wipes out your network and hardware icons as a means to mask itself. It took spyware cleaning and WinXP repair/reinstall to cure it. Restore didnt work as a fix. It even hopped to a second PC when I brought down its ZA on the same LAN. So let that be a warning to you all. Keep at least one level of protection when trying to host LB2 or anything else.

Yeah, but LB2 is an odd duck. Probably related to the same issue that messes up router hosting, ZA sometimes blocks LB2 connections (after FLY, but not during intial sync and mission planning) despite being told to let it through.
USUALLY I haven't had ZA issues as the client, but last week things were strange and I never did find out whether it was my client ZA screwing things up or not.

One of the early episodes of Steve Gibson and Leo Laporte's 'Security NOW!' podcast talked about NAT as a security measure. Some pretty good schemes for using mulitple routers to secure a portion of the network while allowing some machines 'free' access: http://www.grc.com/nat/nat.htm Probably not much will be new for the network geeks here, but it is a good reference. This and other Security Now podcasts at: http://www.grc.com/securitynow.htm Recluse

The Janes F/A-18 community has trying to do that for F/A-18 for years. First the answer was silence. Then the answer was NO, and the latest answer is "We don't know where the code is anymore". LB2 is even older, and I think the Austin group who did LB2 disbanded even before the Baltimore group that did F/A-18.
But..who knows.. maybe a formal request could work..

AARRGH!! Have you tried lowering your OS Keyboard repeat rate? Start -> Control Panel -> Keyboard.

Recluse I asked if they'd even consider selling it again as a value title. No go.

Repeating keystrokes may be:
- mother board issue - typomatic rate - CPU or MB speed (too fast, try turbo and slow down) - something else
