Perhaps completely separate thread should be commited to all those files. How much of their content is really known? Evil Lurker and KeithB are digging here I know...

They look very open. They can be heaven ... or hell for tweakers.

They remind me very much so SF:P1 configuration files which is not surprise considering the same author and head design man TK.

I've created word compillation of all cfg files. Easy to find index word using search in all at once.

I've got a question on the OBJVIEW.INI file. The following data is related to what, exactly?

[VFXOASystem]
NumLODs=4
EndDepth00=80000
EndDepth01=100000
EndDepth02=120000
UseShadows=1
DefaultShadowWidth=64
DefaultShadowRecalcRate=1

I'm thinking it's video effects, but what exactly does that consist of? Lens flare, rotor effects, shadows, etc.? If you can figure it out, as you plow through the files, that would be great.

I would have guessed its 4 levels of detail for displaying objects, with the distance from the viewer that the LOD changes.
And whether shadows are cast by the object.

I think you're right, and it's used by the Object Viewer in Janes, not during gameplay by the rendering engine. I downloaded the demo, and it didn't have an OBJVIEW.INI file included. We can most likely set this file aside until (if) we have some new 3D models to play with. We might possibly want to modify it at that point. Thanks.
