Any hope at all that LB2 could be made to run under
Win2K?

To be honest, I've never tried it.
What happens?

talhuman, it is very unlikely,because Win2K was made for corporate use as an improved NT and no effort was made to provide gaming support. A single set of fixes was introduced in SP3 but it was very limited in scope. It was expected that gamers would use either WinMe or stick with W98SE until the promised merged OS from M$ arrived.It did. XP is not perfect but support tools for gamers and game makers were there (compatability tools and its huge list of supported games and many missing APIs)and most jumped in.

Things are missing in Win2K and even M$ wont add or fix them anymore.

I know it is not a fun prospect but I think you will have to move on.

Longbow 2 is sadly the only program I cant get running on Win2k - all new games work, Falcon 4 works, Janes F18 and F15 work.

The compatability pack is available for Win2K, unfortunately it doesnt include the fix needed (GlobalHeapLie ?) for LB2.

The easiest solution is a dual-boot with Win98SE, I resurrected my Win98 last night just for LB2.

Hmm, have you tried using a MAXMEM setup in MSCONFIG or BOOT.INI on 2K?

I reckon I've tried virtually every config possible under w2k and got nowhere.

I've not heard of a single person who has had LB2 running under that OS.

Yep, tried 366 MB setting in boot.ini.

My next machine will be a Win2K one, I'll give it yet another go! It would be a miracle for sure!
