LOL!

Even the guy stood up at the side looks like he is levitating, he's not even jumping!

I was reading a thread about the 1.2 patch on the totalbf2 forums a week or so ago and some dude was talking about how realiztic bunny hopping was, even recalling his experiences in Iraq with the 101st Airborne Div.

Yeah, I've been a Marine for 18 years and counting and that's a load of BS. You load up a Marine or soldier with 50-70lbs of combat gear and he ain't jumping from the prone position to 2ft off the ground in a second. Certainly not fast enough to avoid fire.

Significantly, leaping into the air has never to my knowledge been taught as a viable means of avoiding any kind of projectile EVER. Not slings, not spears, not arrows, and most definitely not direct weapons fire.

Dude, I could imagine, just trying to run in combat boots let alone jumping, and even that, jumping as high as you can in this game is ridiculous.
I'll be glad when that is gone, I hated it in COD and every other game that lets you get away with it.
The only shooter i've seen that really isnt an advantage to do it has been DF:BHD. That was mostly because of the amount of lead you could throw out there, and an AT-4 had a 50 ft blast radius.

OVER....Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor?

Exactly my thoughts, mate. I was playing BHD and now JOps /along with BF2/,and ive never seen players bunny hoping trying to avoid bullets, because most of the time you are dying from the first hit, and you CANT shoot while in the air. Hopefully this **** will be fixed in BF2, because i really enjoy the online playing, and all the bunnies and dolphines are make me really angry.

Sorry for the double post: I just came from the "Strike on Karkand" map - i was playing US Marine/SpecOps, and i spawned on our main base, then advanced to the first enemy AP. I just layed down and watched the scene: US and MEC soldiers jumping behind the fence trying to kill each other, and i was seeing only their heads raising in the air... now that was so... totaly absurd.

The best part about the post was the guy talking about firing while jumping around, inlcuding an incident where he didn't even know where the incoming fire was coming from. A British soldier was nice enough to respond about the difficulty of firing accurately at distance even when in a proper firing position sometimes which I felt was a nice counterpoint. I really can't imagine seeing someone in combat leaping around trying to fire.

Bunny Hopping, how about the dolphin dive???

Jump in the air and go prone yeah right.

I love the game and love killing these jumping idiots.
I am off the the real place in two weeks and I'll guarantee they'll be no bunny jumping from me, body armour, helmet, chest webbing, boots, rifle and ammo, i'll be lucky to break into a light trot.

Roll on the Patch although it'll probably come out whilst i'm deployed and will have to wait till I get back.

I've hated bunny hopping since, well, forever. Back in the old quake days etc, i used to never play those games due to crap like that. Rocket launcher hopping and such, freaking retarded. Kills BF2 seeing everyone jumping around. I wish that damage was a little more realistic too, having to get a head shot to kill anyone in one hit is stupid. Getting hit multiple times should at least slow you down or something.

Anyone that says they jumped around in real combat is a flat out liar. First off your CO or sgt would get in your face in a heartbeat because what you were doing is unsafe jumping around with a loaded firearm? Please, you'd be in SUCH hot water it wouldn't even be funny. Even that part aside, there is NO WAY you'd hit anything, even at point blank range you'd be lucky to hit something.

i love watching 'tards bunny hopping around while bunched around a jet or heli spawn point, waiting to see who can get it first. it takes everything in my power not to chuck a grenade in there with 'em.

the worst though are the asshats who'll knock you off the carrier platform into the water while you're waiting. there's a special place in tk hell for them, especially since it doesn't count as a tk.

You got my feelings here in a nutshell, i havent played BF2 for 3 months because of this - i still have it but wont be playing it till this is fixed. It has definately ruined what is in all other respects a phenominal game.

I see a small group stealthily infiltrating our rear, down below me like ants about six of them so I start launching grenades at them, suppressing and calling in support

Every single one of them starts bunny-hopping around. Not one of them took cover...

It's embarrasssing being in the same game as them because it's a very decent combat sim if normal people play it for the immersion.

Seeing a whole group of morons doing that I was praying for a big bloody magnifying glass \:\)
