Terrain is being completely re-done, with a new, much more accurate approach. No more greyscale heightmaps to generate the terrain meshes, now we are loading them directly from available DEM data.

The coastline is map-accurate now, with Stanley (no city yet) and nearby areas (Fitzroy, Bluff Cove I think) in the picture below:

I am also manually placing lots of seaside cliffs because they're very common there:

Dano.

Some tweaking is needed for higher altitude shots. Currently, the high alt textures are fading out too much, so the ground look featureless...Steve could fix this quickly.

The other problem, is that the horizon line (drawn in the sky texture) 'looses sync' with the 3d 'horizon' terrain clipped by the far-plane - to fix this, Steve must make the skydome.asc object move up and down slowly in the vertical axis, trying to keep the drawn horizon line in the right place at all altitudes. This is easy too.

we've just been working on roads. in the past we used to have roads using a tile approach.

this time we have a semi-brute force approach.

If you ever need a beta tester.... *Reaches hand into air* ;\) That looks great!

In all my years I've never seen the like. It has to be more than a hundred sea miles and he brings us up on his tail. That's seamanship, Mr. Pullings. My God, that's seamanship!
