I've just upgraded, and am having framerate issues with EEAH \:\(

The new machine is an Athlon 1700+ running at 1916MHz, with 512MB RAM and a Ti4600. It runs Win2K.

The old machine was a slower Athlon / v5500 / Win98SE machine. That had no problems with Apache Havoc, so I never even bothered measuring framerate.

On the new machine, frame rate can fall to teens or below in city areas. Not good. The machine is generally well tweaked, and scores 13,000+ on 3DMark 2001.

Any ideas on getting to run Apache Havoc well, or is my best option to try and find a copy of Comanche Hokum? (Any ideas where in the UK? None of my local shops seem to stock it any more...)

Thanks for any info.

Ian

Hi... don't think you have a 'problem', it's just the game. You probably didn't notice it in your old machine, but the chop around cities is legendary, and I think has virtually nothing to do with your video card or processor. Just poorly executed codework, I'm afraid.

Comanche Hokum is not hugely different, in fact virtually no difference at all around cities. They used the same graphics basically, which is how they made the second game compatible with the first.

Are you having trouble all over, and is the game super choppy in the cities, or are you watching framerates? I know I have had some really crappy times in Taiwan, for instance.

Mercifully, most of the game takes place outside of the cities... also, using FLIR can cause it to get a bit jumpy.

I second this. I'm playing for my second Taiwan medal now and the framerate drop is huge. I can't excel witch means I have to play everything in real time. Takes hours. Don't know what the problem is, if it's my own fault for screwing around with the WUT-Profiles or adding to many Sam’s and/or armour.

My advice, buy EECH, get 3+3 extra campaigns and find one with no problems, i.e. Aleutians. And hopefully one of the code-men will stumble across a fix.

Fight the power, \:D

Theo.

Well...I've tried the EECH demo, and that seems to get better framerates than my full version of EEAH.

Is this normal?

I did a "demo" on both, and noted high/lows over the course of 5 mins or so.

EEAH was about 22/45
EECH was about 30/60.

Odd.

I guess I now need to find a copy of EECH in the UK. Any suggestions?

Ian

Thanks.

Copy ordered.

Is there a newbie patching FAQ anywhere?

Don't think so. The patch order has been posted a couple of time here, but could be a bit hard to find.
Install EEAH -run once
Install EEAH patch (on the EECH CD) -run once
This should give you EEAH v1.1E
Install EECH (same folder as EEAH)
Install EECH patch 141c (d/l from RW site)
Then you're free to use any higher version, since it's just a swap of the cohokum.exe

for the sake of clarity, obvious but you never know, by 'same folder as EEAH', Moje means the main folder you installed EEAH in, which will be 'Razorworks' most likely, on whatever drive. So the 'Razorworks' folder will have the ApHavoc and Cohokum folders in it.

Thanks for that clarification!

You may just have saved me from a lot of hairpulling and gratuitous swearing...
