I would have never noticed this if I had not read the reviews, so I went and downloaded the KBT Hornets to get their sound.

Can anyone tell me how I can "install" these sounds to the AF Hornet? Thanks!

Or you can try a sound set from avsim.com. File name is f-18_ge-400_the_real_deal.zip.

Controller: "Air Force 53, it appears your engine has... oh... disregard, I see you've already ejected."

Oooo.. Chappy speaks - thanks for the direct link, easier for my lazy butt...

Thanks for the help guys! I'm glad this is just a cut-paste deal, and no tinkering with .txt files and whatnots.

Hmmm... the SOUND folder on the /aircraft/af_f18 folder contains just a Sound.cfg, no sound files.

Do I paste the sound files on the /aircraft/af_f18/sound folder or on the /fs9/sound folder?

Double click on the sound.cfg it will give you a pointer to where AF put the sound. Go there and replace the sound in that directory. It could be another AF_f18 associated dir or it could be fsfsconv in the aircraft dir. Just guessing. Look at the pointer in the sound.cfg file

Originally, AF Hornets uses the default Learjet soundset. That's their only downside ;\)

I just noticed one thing: My hornet's afterburner lights up only on the right side! Has anyone had this? It doesn't seem to affect the aircraft though.

It seems I have to get my hands dirty regarding these sounds, eh? Chappy, how did you work with this?

Hmmm... seems that the default Sound.cfg just points to alias Learjet sounds.

The "real deal" sound pack comes with its own Sound.cfg file, and seems just a cut-and-paste deal.

I have used the sound from the F18E/F for the AF Hornets havent tried the others yet. Another favorite sound file for me is the T-45 Sounds file. I have used that in the A4s,DC-9/C-9s and C-21s.

Another Hornet question. Does anyone know what (1 sometimes the contrails work on their own such as when the flaps are down or doing a turn, other times they are selected with the "I" Key?, (2 Why is it that sometimes the Afterburners work properly and other times only when the "L" key is used,(3 I have noticed similar actions with the "O" key with the smaller light of the afterburners in the afterburner can. Any reasons why these actions work sometimes and not others?

Hey Ecienavxela, I have family in the Philippines, my wife is from Manilia and we have family in Baguio City as well as some other cities. I have seen the one burner problem too, usually with the Blue Angel Hornets.

Just unzip, drop in the aircrafts main folder and when it prompts to overwrite, say yes. Every soundpack comes with it's own Sound.cfg so it is a drag and drop deal. I've replaced all the default aircraft sounds this way and most of the add-ons. Thank god there are people chasing planes around with Microphones.
