Generically speaking, you add them to the game by using a program called traffic tools, by assigning each AI plane a flightplan. The AI will not show up if proper parking is not available. You use a program called afcad to add proper parking (note: both programs mentioned are by Lee Swordy).

A simple box formation.
There are no "formation" flights of AI, unless you get real tricky and make overlaid Afcad airports and multiple AI flightplans and get a bit of luck in the area of timing of the AI flights (They don't fly _exactly_ on time too often). So there won't be any box formations. There may be the sembelance of a loose formation using tricks like above.

Default FS9 multiplayer automatically turns off all AI. (I think there was a freeware program/add-on being developed to allow this, but I lost the link).

Loser is the opposite of winner.
Looser is the opposite of tighter.

Unless you have _many_ spare hours to learn TTools and AFCAD I suggest you start by downloading some of Cees Donkers excellent WW II British Airbases over at Sim Outhouse under the Scenery section. One is Polebrook AB which feature B-17 macros for the AI AC.

I know 2 bases feature either Shockwave B-17 or P-51 AC converted to AI AC that are both static objects and also fly.

You will need to download some AC skins, some Scenery Libraries, and some Object Liberies, all available on Sim Outhouse or AVSim and do some file moving, the DOCS are excellent however.

It will give a very basic idea of what you can do with AI AC.

This is a great place to fly your B-17`s out of at dawn, and will truly give the feeling of " Being There " in 1943 with the 93rd. and 351st. Bomb Groups, USAAF. ( without 737`s on the taxi ways... )
