I just got this e-mail from Gary Stottlemyer

"I just replied to an e-mail from Ed. Without going into what he was asking me about, I got the distinct feeling that he thinks KOE is dead. I'd like to make sure we aren't conveying that impression to him or the forum folk (and that you aren't under that impression, yourself). To review, I expect KOE to come out sometime next year, albeit in stages and probably under a different title. How "Project A" goes will, obviously, affect that expectation. But the expectation is definitely there (otherwise we wouldn't be doing Project A!). I just hope that's clear to everyone. "

So is it clear to everyone what this means. KOE is not cancelled. It's just been delayed for a long time.

I apologize to everyone for all the confusion and the emotional roller coaster I've put people through. I was trying to put the word out as accurately as I could, as quickly as I could.

So don't throw a party but don't throw a wake either.

If it released in stages, that would be fine with me. Say the first release covers the last year of the war. And each release adds planes and maps. (Think IL2FB style).

That way you could start with say 20-30 planes, then you could build up to that magic 100 number.
And other theaters.

All I can say is for now I am grateful for Red Baron 3D and all the mods and modders for it. It is a great flight sim and will keep me flying WWI combat goodness until the next generation replacement arrives on the scene, whenever that may be.

Also, I actually was under the impression that KOE was abandoned more or less for good, although I was wondering what was to become of the work completed up to now.

So was I, from what I had read I thought KOE had been cancelled forever. Glad to here it will be revisited perhaps one day.

Cool, OK so hurry up with this "project A" and if it will help get KOE done I'll buy it even if it's useless to me \:D

Ok, now I am confused.

Do you mind having him write to me so I can possibly get some kind of interview concerning the state of the game?

I think it would clear a lot of stuff up.

Thanks.

THAT is a great idea. It would help clear up a lot of questions for everyone! I'm also guessing that this forum can be left up as the game will be developed at some point, correct?

Now I know why they call it the "Yo Yo" maneuver, cause it's up, it's down, it's up, it's down! \:D

No really, we're all encouraged to read Gary Stottlemyers's e-mail John, but maybe an interview at this time would be a good idea to clarify the project's status a bit.

Nothing too binding of course, but having a few ideas about the future course of action would be good, once they're available that is (hey, it would presumably be good PR).

Be gentle Tom! ;\)

I really like AA_Trouble4U outlook on things.

I'll forward a copy of Mister Cofield's request to Gary. Since it's the start of the weekend, it might not get read till Monday.

I could guess what he might say, and since all of my guesses have been wrong this week, he'll probably do the opposite of what I expect.

Just Tom?

Aye Aye sir.

Old habit from my Navy days. Anybody you had to salute you addressed as Mister. After working in a communicatons department for 16 years, anybody with "editor" in their title gets saluted.

He He.

Well I am a US Army Captain in real life but you still don't have to call me sir or Mr.

Just kiss my ring.
