Rooster, it hasn't been released to the public quite yet. \:\)

The Richthofen's Skies development team is putting the last minute polish on the mod, and the lastest version of the Targetware software that will be used for RS is just being beta tested now.

Basically you'll first download the Targetware software Installer from the Downloads section of the TW site (version 0.62 when it's posted), and install it, then you'll download the RS mod pack and install this to the TW program. At this point you'll need to make sure that everything is "patched-up" by connecting to play online thru the sim's GUI interface (this will auto-update the sim).

That's it!

At that point you're ready to play/practice missions offline (remember there's no AI), or you can connect to an RS servers to play multiplayer online (I suspect things might work a little roughly at first.............and they want constructive feedback and suggestions too).

The sim has a high learning curve (they're trying to get things as authentic as possible as well as remain playable), so you'll need to stick with it a bit to get yourself trained and airworthy.

She's a beaut so far, and remember it's still considered in beta even at release time, because things will be continuously improved and expanded.

The experience is free at this stage of development..............and probably will be for some time! \:\)

So you'll have to wait a week or so yet (is my guess). \:D

One last thing I'd like to mention about the Targetware sim software, and that is that it has much versatility in making your own customized control settings.

There's "tutorials" on the TW website about all the various options and keystrokes for interfacing with the sim, and there's many keyboard/joystick mapping choices too.

It may take a bit to get the settings the way you like and the way you are most comfortable with, but the fact that you can adjust so many interfacing options is very commendable in my mind.

I'll be "away from the web" for a few days, so in if you're interested in more Richthofen's Skies info feel free to join the Targetware forum and shoot away! \:D

The new version of Targetware is available, plus the Richthofen's Skies mod (48 mb)!!

I'm downloading now - can't wait for this. I hope there's a decent turnout for it!

EDIT: I uploaded the 48 MB mod to my webspace if you want a slightly faster speed than the main Targetware server.

My site, which is still being transferred over from my old webspace, is here .

Here's a link to download the file: right-click here .

1. Right click to save to your hard drive.
2. Extract files to your Targetware\data folder.

Hopefully that works!

I just gave RS a spin. It is a real improvement from the previous efforts of Target Flanders. The Targetware engine has improved in some important areas. The effort put into RS really shows.

The FM is very tough and the WW1 planes are skittish and difficult keep in the air if you hamfist it.

To get any chance of a hit on an opponent one must really close in and steady the guns. Any hits from a distance will be attributed more to luck than anything.

It is a work in progress but the team has shown it is worth downloading and playing. I saw a few people from this board on there and we all had fun.

Some picts because they always speak louder than words. Grab it while it is free to play and join in.
