Short answer: no. We just think that pontificating is fun Seriously, latest estimate is Q4 of this year. Not sure where this came from but I do believe that it was Aspect saying it. One can be pretty sure that if they estimate Q4 then it will definitely ot be earlier.

Now, something to consider is that the new UT2004 went for [ I think ] $39.99. But that was built on the existing UT2003 engine. Aspect is building an engine and a sim, right? That means a lot of work and time. Gotta charge for it then. 60 bucks for a THIRD of what RB gave us? .....That's insane! But hey, don't be surprized if that's what they charge.

I would think that the narrower the focus, the more detailed it can be.
The descriptions they gave for the damage models, and how they will model ballistics, etc, already put it far beyond RB.
S49.99 is probably close to the mark.

Clearly, the message they got was a snapshot in time. Now if KOE starts posting snapshots of Fokker E3's & Morane Bullets, then I guess I'll eat my words, but I don't think I will, since they could've posted them already. When I fist saw the pic of the N24 bis, I too thought it was an N17, and got my hopes up. ......But reality came to me, and I realized that the French N17 had a deck mounted Vickers, and that it wouldn't be engaging Dr1's late in the war. Also, the N17 is silbergrau, not white. So, the only logical conclusion is that it is an N24 bis, which is about right for mid to late 1917 when the Dr1 was at strength.

From our interview I got the impression that the sim encompassed the whole war. In Historic Mode, the campaign will depict the major events of WWI as they unfolded. Battles will occur when and where they did and the Germans are destined to loose, with the war ending on November 11, 1918. Despite strict adherence to the major historical events, the missions will still be dynamically generated and the localized success or failure of you and your squadron will still be dynamically represented. Remember, too, that the focus of campaign play is on you and your career, so your goal will be score kills, win medals, get promotions and transfers to hot squadrons, and gain international fame and glory. The outcome of the war is secondary. The most famous ace of WWI was Manfred Von Richthofen, and people don’t care that his side lost the war.

Not to mention this: http://www.simhq.com/_air/air_069e.html Isn't that a monoplane in the lower left hand corner? Or is it a biplane at a tricky angle? If it is a monoplane, seems likely there are other earlier planes. -FranksValli

It's a biplane Uther, from what I read so far, it looks like an Il2 type combat. The description of ballistics, and the screenshots seem to support it. At least to me. Just my opinion I hope that Aspect keeps the FMs in house. Allow skinning. Allow people to model planes for the game, if they meet Aspect standarts. But leave the FMs in house. DMs too for that matter.
