Some questions:
What is the earliest start date for campaigns?

Are aircraft assignments historically correct?

Is mission generation historically accurate?

Does flight composition change (get larger) over time?

Does the front move?

Is there a squadron management element to the sim?

Any answers, especially those more detailed than "yes" or "no", are appreciated \:\) .

Well, I on the other hand have just 1 question - is the project still actually even breathing any more?

Development update on the KOE site is dated April 19, 2003!

In other words, almost a year...

Without FB things would indeed be gloomy for prop sim fans.

The last interview that KOE gave was late December '03 at Check Six.

It makes for interesting reading, although not a lot is actually given away by them. The really interesting thing is that they say they are planning on a 4th quarter release for '04.

Here's the link. http://www.checksix-fr.com/articles/detail.php?id=224

Boy, I hope KOE is still a living, breathing project.
I've brought up the KOE website before. Seems a bit hard to beleive they can't update it. It takes about five minutes to gen-up a message saying the site is going to be updated, or just a text page with some news.
I'll volunteer to update it, if they need some help. Heck I'll even give them some of my server space! :p

Have some faith guys. All sim developments go through this 'hybernation' period, when info is as scarce as hens teeth.

Hopefully soon some good news will come our way. \:\)

Hope you're right, still seems odd about the website...I mean that represents the project on the web...no updates for almost a year is a very. very long time.

Not to alarm anyone but I've tried e-mailing Mat Herman the last few days, a KOE producer, and they keep bouncing back as undeliverable.

S! Guys,

I don't know if they monitor this forum, but perhaps Aspect can show us a little of "the beef?"
Some news on development, perhaps some new screenshots. Even a post?
I think they have a lot of support for a WW1 sim, and I know I'm looking forward (from what I've seen) to their product.

Here is what I think might be going on... Aspect has a publisher and JP has said that the publisher is going to post a product page when they are ready. This product page is going to have all the latest updates on the games progress.

I think that the devs have pretty much left the PR work to the publisher and are focusing instead on the games development. PR work is a chore and Aspect is probably happy to be relieved of the duty. I think it is the publisher that's being slack with the updates. The guys at Aspect are probably burning the midnight oil trying to get the game done and really don't have the time to be lurking over the forums and posting.

That is my take on why things are so quiet. Just a guess, that's all.

And for all of the speculation about the health of KOE, I would still love to have some details on the campaign \:\)

Yea, we kind of hijacked your thread there didn't we?

Heck yea! I would like details on the campaign too! Well, until we hear a peep out of Aspect or their publisher all we can do is speculate. So speculate away! I don't know a thing about how campaigns are programed or what would be a cool feature in a campaign or I would start things off with an idea or two!

Okay, let's speculate.

I think that KOE is going to have all of the planes in WFP and more, and they will all be flyable.

I think that KOE will allow campaigns to start in early 1915 and progress to the end of the war.

I think that KOE will allow for seamless transition from two seter to scout, allowing the player to take the same career path as many famous aces.

I think that KOE will correctly model all of the quirks of WWI aircraft, including rotary engines, wing warping, and frequently poor aeleron design.

I think that KOE will have the best AI ever seen. It will run away when damaged or out numbered. Two seaters will abort if the situation is bad, etc. However, it will also model some human failings. For instance, you will be able to sneak up on it.

I think I need to stop dropping so much acid before visiting these boards ... \:\)

I think it would be cool to start the campaign earlier than RB did. Fly that period known as the Fokker Scourge.

I watched the movie "The Red Baron" last night. They had WW1 bomber pilots telling how Richtofen took his Red Albatros up above them, dived through their ranks then pulled up underneath them
hung there and ripped them apart.

Hope the AI knows how to attack 2 seaters.
