What the heck is this for?

KOE will for sure use an entirely different system for the damage model... \:D

This might interest you Von Helton. It's a log of an attack on a bombing run in an Albatross BII in Target Flanders. Unfortunately, I had to ditch the plane.

I'm assuming most games have something similar, but it is nice that TW's is available to peruse in notepad format:

040116 10:50:00 ORDNANCE: Albatros B.II 50 lb bomb #1 exploding
040116 10:50:00 EXPLOSION: 52504.2 kJ, 36.2 m radius
040116 10:50:25 ORDNANCE: Albatros B.II stielhandgranate exploding

040116 10:50:45 ORDNANCE: Albatros B.II stielhandgranate exploding

040116 10:50:51 EXPLOSION: 1576.5 kJ, 6.3 m radius

040116 10:53:07 GROUND COLLISION: Albatros B.II lower right inner wing, 59.09%
040116 10:53:07 POSITIVE G STRESS: Albatros B.II lower right inner wing, 59.64%

etc.

Since KOE is modeling skeletal framework, I'm guessing the damage detail they use will be even more particular and varied. Even if we are never aware of how it is working. As long as the effects are evident in the sim for the player.

S!

It does!

My point is to make the Damage files in such a way so that different types of aircraft can be incorporated.

Aircraft with more than one engine, more than one rudder, elevator, etc.

The Caproni Bomber is a good example:

3 engines, 3 fuselages, 4 rudders, 2 elevators, 3 wings, and several gunner's positions.

......Not to mention all of the wire sets!

The damage file should allow for at least:

Pilot
Co Pilot
Observer
5 gunner's positions

That should allow for any plane in WW1 to be added, I think.

Not just the surfaces, the bracing and control wires ought to be modelled too.
