...of three different games! Don't believe that three different, brand new games heve faulty discs. Do I need a new DVD/CD drive?

Sorry I haven't posted in months, but work, golf, and Nascar Sim Racing have owned my life during that time. Just got GTR2 and it's the third driving game that will not install. Got the new G25 wheel, pedals, shifter combo per Chunx's recommendation and it seems great, but I would dearly love to try out GTR2 and NR2003 and neither will install.

As always, any help will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Another round of thanks to the kind individuals who offered solutions! A new DVD/CD drive solved the issue. This had been a minor problem with only one or two programs that wouldn't install - I thought because they were "legacy" programs or "ported" games - but when GTR2 wouldn't go, I knew something was really wrong. I was especially happy that NR2003 installed without a hitch as this little disc was about a hundred bucks and it's virtually the only one in the NASCAR genre with an absolutely thriving community.

I was starting to think about throwing way too much money at another upgrade. Only you guys and the fact that we don't yet have a verifyably rock-solid and super over-clockable 680i mobo saved me from spending when my present system isn't really obsolete. Thank you again.

(Would have been an excellent excuse to spring for a 30-inch Dell Flat-panel, though!)

I am not there, never have been or ever will be, but the fruitless search may be more gratifying then the "content" you might otherwise be exposed to.
