So I finally ordered a 19" Viewsonic VP930b, and it arrived on Monday. I hooked it up to my X800's DVI connector and used it all night and everything was great...until Tuesday. DVI--no signal detected. I spent all Tuesday and Wednesday trying different things, but I couldn't get the DVI input to work anymore. The 2 D-SUBs work just fine! Tried it on a spare PC with a 9800 via DVI, tried a different DVI cable, tried it all. I got a Viewsonic EDID tool. Tried it at work, correctly reads my Dell 17" monitor. Tried it at home--"unable to retrieve EDID info". Sigh. Newegg doesn't offer cross-shipping, but I DID get a full refund for the one I have. Ordered a 2nd one, and I'll send the first one back when I get the replacement...on Tuesday it seems. The Jedi Master

I expect SED will be very expensive when it first hits the market.
Bummer about the Viewsonic LCD. What's this Viewsonic EDID tool?

It still works just fine via D-SUB. I tried the DVI Recovery tool I found on the net, but that just gives me "failed to open DDC channel" over and over again.

It worked great Monday. When I got home on Tuesday, the DVI was dead. I'll be back to that tomorrow night when the new one gets here.

So far, it's working fine. Two solid nights in a row. I'm a little letdown because the panel on this one doesn't seem quite as good as the first one. I'd say if the first panel was 100% this one is in the low/mid 90's. However, that's when comparing DVI to DVI. The old one with the D-SUB isn't quite as good as this one with DVI. As long as THIS DVI never breaks, I'm fine!

If it follows every other innovation in technology, Gatticus is right on; It will be EXTREMELY expensive at first, if only to force the clearance of LCD scrteen inventories.
Wonder how soon I can get one?

Yeah, I've had this one since 4/25 and it's still fine. As I mentioned, though, the panel isn't quite as good...specifically, the backlight "X" was almost invisible on the first monitor but it's noticeable here anytime the screen is black (loading, letterboxed cutscenes, menus). A PITA, but I've gotten used to it.
