No wonder I went over to the DPRK... Man, I love that little wavey guy! Oh, and watch out for cardboard SAM's near enemy airbases, specifically near generator buildings. Are they real or plastic? Errr, cardboard, yeah. Spectacular, but cardboard.

Thanks to SimHQ F4:AF Review Team: "BeachAV8R", "20mm", "WKLINK", John Reynolds, and "guod" for this Mates, The article is superb! Your descriptions and composition with pics and all the details is simply outstanding.. Also you cover the Sim and this package with nice depth for both new and seasoned vets. I find it very encouraging, and you pointed out with enthusiasm some answers a possible new player like myself might have. From this review and the obvious credibility of you guys it seems to me the F4:AF is a fantastic product for someone new, and exactly what I was looking for. Especially good news is Lead-Pursuit's Third Party Add-On Agreement: Lead Pursuit News And also other support like patches and alternate keyboard layouts. This is #1 on my list of Sims to try when I get time (together with a computer upgrade) to explore. Thanks and Well Done! -S!

Enjoyed the summary very much: an informative and justifiably optimistic article that leaves a simmer - even one whose Pro Throttle is out for warranty repair - with a warm feeling in his black, war-mongerring heart. I was especially surprised and excited to read that F4:AF made it to number 10 on the Amazon best-selling list; a baritone "YEAH, BABY!" rose from within as I digested this news!
I admit to having viewed Lock-On and then AF:F4 as the last of a dying or dead breed. Part of me was okay with that as the two products are amazing, each in different ways. Now I feel justified in looking forward to the next jet/helicopter sim and as always, if it's playable, I'll buy it. Which brings me to my next point.
I cannot relate to those who say "If it doesn't do this or doesn't have that, I'm not getting it". While I would not debate their right to make these statements or refrain from buying for a moment, I do question their motivation. If we eliminate financial considerations - forty bucks won't break anyone - we are left with personal preferrences as the reason. My personal preference is to support the combat flight sim genre by purchasing every legitimate effort that is marketed. Doing so is the only way that I as an individual can make a contribution to my hobby and help ensure that it is one that I will enjoy for many years to come. I fly sims therefore I buy sims. And I am thankful that there are enough of us out there to make the strong statement that we made with F4:AF purchases.

Don’t come to us with a simplified interpretation of reality that is somewhere between a game and a sim.
But if you have the right ingredients, if the product is relatively stable, if the bugs are squeezed to acceptable proportions, then we will honor your effort.
I hope that the industry also makes note that even without any type of copy protection sales can be exceptional good. hear hear! Is anyone keeping an eye on the Amazon best-selling list to see how F4:AF is doing these days? I think it is wonderful news that F4:AF did so well after it's release. It would be even better news if the game "has legs" and can decent best-selling position over time!

On the current Amazon game list, "The Sims 2: Nightlife Expansion Pack" is number one, MSFS 2004 is number 5, Falcon 4:AF is number 28.
28, not bad, not bad at all.
And of course, Amazon is just one indicator of sales, and online sales at that.
But still, you'd have to say a strong showing for any true simulation, other than a MS product. A "hardcore" F-16 study sim? Very good.

I remember way back when Janes was in play, folks use to always contend which line of sims were betterbetween Janes F15 vs Falcon. It was normal to hear someone remark as to how they will not buy this or that! Then soon Janes left the scene and Falcon's design team got killed. Could it be that reluctance and seeming disinterest from the sim community could have actually helped to trigger the deep winter of simulations we are in? I think so. Hopefully Falcon AF is a sign that better days are ahead.
