I've been geeking out to a lot of nerd Rock lately, and now I want to make a road trip to somewhere nerdy that's relatively close. Huntsville, AL is less than 400 miles (640 km) away.

Obviously the main attraction is NASA...

But there's possibly more...

In the late-80's/early-90's I worked at an engineering company as an HVAC draftsman using Intergraph (Unix VAX-based CAD [computer aided design/drafting]). Intergraph is headquartered in Huntsville.

One of the cooler construction projects I worked on was locating laser detection security in the duct work of the Sparkman Missile Center which is also located in Huntsville. In fact, I think it's on the same grounds as NASA.

So I’d also like to visit both Intergraph and Sparkman, at least as far as I can get into these facilities (maybe a building pic from the parking lot? smile ).

Anyway, Huntsville just seems like a cool place that I've always wanted to visit and can do so over a long weekend. Have any of you been to NASA in Huntsville?

The rusty wire that holds the cork that keeps the anger in
Gives way and suddenly it’s day again
The sun is in the east
Even though the day is done
Two suns in the sunset, hmph
Could be the human race is run
