I assume that many of you here who have watched "Das Boot" remember that the port where U-96 was stationed is the city of La Rochelle on the western coast of France (Bay of Biscay). In both the original "Das Boot" miniseries and the recent "Das Boot" sequel, many of the scenes were shot on location in La Rochelle. It also turns out that La Rochelle was used for the U-boat scenes in "Raiders of the Lost Ark".

I then did a Google Maps detailed 3D view of La Rochelle and I was quite surprised and impressed to see that the original U-boat pens that were built during the war as still in pretty good condition!
