Moved to a new town recently. Started eating out a lot more lately both because of still settling in, getting to know what's around town, and I'd stopped eating out nearly completely around 4 years ago anyway, but with COVID I started filling in "grocery gaps" with drive through takeout a fair amount.

I hate drive through. I HATE it.

You have absolutely no way of knowing how bad the line will be, and you're STUCK once you get in line. And there's almost always that person with the hundred dollar drive through order, which means not only do you get to wait for that clog, then your food is sitting there ready many minutes before you get it. Which is terrible for almost anything that comes from a drive through.

Started going inside more, COVID be damned.

Oh, 1 person in line, okay, even with the #%&*$# drive through prioritization they all do should be fairly quick right?

Oh wait, YOU are in LINE behind PHONE ORDERS, and APP ORDERS, and DOORDASH DRIVERS, and more!

So you STILL have no idea what kind of line you're getting into, and you STILL have no option to walk away, because they take your money quick, then you're just as stuck as in that drive through lane!

So now I ask about ETA. I specifically ask "What is the REAL line I'm committing to here? I see two customers who just ordered in front of me, what's the REAL order count ahead of me?"

Just another modern day annoyance, but I find it particularly galling that in person customers are given the lowest priority these days...

And I doubt my many, many times of electing to not give my money out over this will make any difference - they'll still max their profits, get crappier and crappier, and dumb and/or lazy people who somehow make all the money in the world will feed them their profits...
