Shock Force 2 is good, but with the dissimilar forces it can be a bit one sided at times. Depends on the scenario of course. It's worth a go if you dig modern stuff.
I would love a game that has the Cold War Idea of the Russian Armored pouring thru the Gap into Germany.
Have you had a look at Armored Brigade? A different sort of game than Combat Mission but might scratch that itch.
