More from my campaign flying for the French in Alsace. After a month or so flying Moranes we've been given Nieuports whoohoo

The poor Aviatik 'B's don't stand a chance, the 'C' types are obviously more tricky but I've managed a couple. What strikes me most flying around here is all the forest. God help anyone trying to make a forced landing around here.

I'm flying predominantly with Constantin Zarapoff, hopefully he'll behave himself when there's a target nearby and not get in my way. He's been ok thus far.

"A great deal of an aeroplane could be holed without affecting its ability to fly. Wings and fuselage could be—and often were—pierced in 50 places, missing the occupants by inches (blissfully unaware of how close it had come until they returned to base). Then the sailmaker would carefully cover each hole with a square inch of Irish linen frayed at the edges and with a brushful of dope make our aircraft 'serviceable' again within an hour."
