I think you missed an step. When you save the profile to the device and it has restarted you need to select it again from the device list and reload "Load sets from device". Once you've done that and the device icon turns blue, you check if the physical input recognizes the button actions. Then you need to assign that physical button to a logical output button. That will be the number of the button that the OS will receive.
