AMD delays Ryzen 9 3950X launch due to unsatisfactory clock speeds, sources claim

Unsatisfactory clock speeds are the cause of AMD delaying launch of its 16-core Ryzen 9 3950X processor, which has nothing to do with support from its foundry partner TSMC, according to sources at motherboard makers.

Speculation is that hitting the Boost Clocks is the main issue. Base clocks are easily hit. Moreover, the Ryzen automatically overclocks well above Base on all 8 cores simultaneously.

The issue may be more about the appearance of False Advertising of maximum single-core boost -- rather than actual lack of practical multi-core performance.
