No its an electric pressure cooker that controls temperature perfectly and maintains temperature. Main benefit is cooking things that you would cook for 8 hours in that slow cooker can be replicated in the pressure cooker in about 45 minutes and get it just as tender.

I love mine. I also have the June Smart Oven generation 2. Between the instantpot and the June cooking on weeknights is a lot easier.
