Hello guys,
I have finished the work in the living room and also my HTPC is running. I will do some work at the KA-50 cockpit internals now at the evenings again.
I have still a lot of work, cause now as my first "modern system"
the HTPC is running (Phenom II 955 - Geforce 1030GT) I came across a new problem. Nearly two-thirds of my games aren't able to run anymore. As far as I could find out at the web, it seems to be a driver problem with the latest NVidia and perhaps also with AMD/ATI drivers. They almost nearly droped all support for DirectX 9.
Now many games of my Steam and GOG list do not start anymore. Same goes for my CD/DVD game-collection. They do all crash with a DirectX error.
As I found out reading in many forums, I'm not the only one with this problem. Many NVidia and AMD users have reported of such problems. They are all very annoyed, cause you still can buy many DX9 games at Steam, GOG, Origin etc. So if this could not be fixed, you have to use an extra DX9 retro PC to play your "old" games which use DX9.
I already built a retro machine to play my games of the W9X to XP era and now you have to built another machine for even playing DX9 titles, are they crazy!
If things go on this way further, I really will give up with my hobby. I understand that new technologies not always totally backwards compatible, but this looks more like they don't want you to run older titles anymore. But you can still buy them online and still the most titles you can buy are DX9.
P.S: And there is no more option to get older or legacy driver at the NVidia page anymore. Only a few are still able for download! What's this!? Now you have to download all drivers before they aren't up to date anymore and save them at a harddrive for the future, cause one year later you won't be able to get them anymore
