It was a huge oversight by the showrunners to act as if the wall and the night watch were still necessary even though there were now zero threats in the north due to the destruction of the white walker army and the Wildlings now being on friendly terms with the Seven Kingdoms.
As mentioned before, the Night’s Watch was as much a place to send criminals, misfits, and undesirables so they’re someone else’s problem as it was a military force. Are the Thenns all dead? The Bay of Ice and Bay of Seals are both good places for raiders or slavers to come ashore, Night’s Watch patrols in the Gifts would be helpful to find any.
