Breaking: Supreme Court Rules States Can Tax All Internet Sales

Today the U.S. Supreme Court ruled 5-4 to reverse a 1992 ruling that mandated states could only tax e-commerce if the retailer in question has a physical presence in the state. So if popular computer hardware vendor, Newegg, did not have a warehouse or hub in your state, you could buy a video card and pay only for the product and shipping costs.

All that is soon to change as today’s landmark reversal gives states the authority to start demanding their fair share of internet sales tax.

We fought the American Revolution in large part to oppose the very idea of taxation without representation. Today, the Supreme Court announced, 'oops' governments can now tax those outside their borders—those who have no political power, no vote, no voice."

In my view, the USA Constitution as originally written and intended did not allow taxation across State borders. A 5-4 Supreme Court vote nearly always means the strict constitutionalists (we have 4) voted against and the 4 who don't give a darn about the Constitution voted for -- and our resident swing voter voted yes. The correct vote was NO -- as it was in 1992 when we were less corrupt. Then the correct procedure would have Congress change the law and amend the Constitution accordingly -- if people really wanted this change. Of course, it was politically unviable to do that.

Thing is, although technology changes, people are people -- now, 300 years ago and 3000 years ago. The historians over all that time (starting 3500 years ago) have noted that the corrupted politicians want control. They always go about getting it the same way (Socialism). However, folks are not taught (in school) about how things were long ago -- and how badly it always turned out. So, they don't get it.

It starts small -- with seemingly fair but unconstitutional changes. Later, in a couple decades, things get decidedly less beneficial. Always has worked this way and always will. I won't be alive to see this particular "fall" (towards a clever, under=the-table dictatorship -- for the good of the wealthy few).

Oh well, GPUs and CPUs will now cost more on average due to "border crossing'" state taxes. Thus, people will have less to spend on actual products -- and companies that sell via the internet will lose a small amount of business (in the USA).
