No Forsaken_joystick, diodes are not missing. Diodes are required if there will be 3 or more contacts activated simultaneously. I always use them but it works w/o them correctly if you have only push buttons w/o switches. You can test it. The original Kbird`s scheme was w/o diodes so I only redrew it.
