Well you arrived at this after previously touting that they were going to merge 1.5 and 2.0.
The answer is still no, three times no. There is no functionality in 1.5 that they need for 2.5 that is not in 2.0. The reason that the released version of 2.0 is sometimes behind is just the logistics of testing, nothing more.
